Bio
Guitarist and songwriter Steve Genn began writing songs for obLONG in 1988, when singer Tracy Deakin was 2. He didn't know her at the time, nor did he know they would be known as obLONG, but 21 years later, joined by bassist Hugh Ruiz and drummer Tom Didlock, they became obLONG indeed, and the band superseeds the vision and the sound that Steve had in his head all that time ago.
Since forming in late 2008 the band have been relentlessly gigging, predominantly in their home-city of Sheffield (actually Hugh is Spanish but an earned Sheffielder), including appearances at the newly established Tramlines Festival and the Leadmill.
obLONG look forward to their first single - 'In Remission' - being released as part of the debut project of label Club 60 Recordings, also based in Sheffield. They will feature as one of four acts, and the release, taking place in April 2011, will take the form of two double A-side limited edition 7" vinyls, complimenting the band's grungy, old-school sound.
