Bio

"You can't change anything if you do nothing."

Obscure Relevance was formed originally in 2006, and despite the tragic loss of their friend, brother, and original bass player Jonathan M. Lemke, regrouped early 2007 with players great enough to continue on their quest. Obscure Relevance was reborn on the 4th of July in 2007, and burst onto the L.A. area music scene in early October. After gaining amazing momentum from live shows, the band finally took some time to go into the studio and record their first self-produced album “What You Gotta Say”. Since then, Obscure Relevance has aimed at being on the cutting edge of songwriting and performance, becoming known for their professional attitude on the job, and their charismatic energy on and off-stage.
The band is made up of Bryan Ellis on vocals, Mardo Martin on bass and vocals, Cary Singman on guitar, and Miah Palmer on drums. All members attended the highly accredited Musicians Institute of Technology in Hollywood, California. Bryan, in addition to his vocal talents, has worked as an engineer earning himself both Gold and Platinum records while working with some of the biggest names in the music business. Mardo has received acclaim for his compositions in theatre and commercials, with over ten years of bass playing experience and an Associate’s degree in modern vocal performance. Cary has played guitar since the age of 12, attended the Encore Program at M.I., and has been a member of popular L.A. bands Recluse, Subdevice, and Solarium. Miah has over twenty years experience on the drum kit, numerous national tours, and has sought instruction from some of the finest drummers in the world. He is also teaching at the music college while finishing his bachelor of music.
Obscure Relevance is a highly political minded band; "You can't change anything if you do nothing." That is why they have made it their mission to bring enlightened, quality music to the masses while turning heads everywhere they go. Currently, they are planning a national tour (to begin late-summer) in support of their new album, “What You Gotta Say”.
Surely, Obscure Relevance is a band with their feet planted firmly on the ground, taking one step at a time straight to the top. With their intellectual lyrics, unique, well-developed music, and business minded tenacity this is a band that you don’t want to miss.
