""Primed For The Big Time""

From the Incubus-like opener "Ultimate Disaster", to the albums slow burning "Parachutes & Gasoline" Obsidian prove that they are primed for the big time. - partyinkingston.com

""Intense Stage Show""

"...the response in the room quickly warmed up to the intense stage show that has become Obsidian’s trademark. Obsidian impressed the audience making the most of their opportunity to add more legions of fans to their dark army." - Queen's Journal

""Primordial Soup""

Music that floats like a butterfly and stings like turpentine on an open wound. Obsidian is, hands down, one of the hottest hard-rock bands to suface in Kingston's primordial soup. With the punchy, yet surreal guitar of Andrew Postlethwaite alongside the incredible ingenuity of Kevin Brezina's basslines, and the superhuman precision of percussionist Phil Elliott all wrapped around the insane and tortured voice of Turi Mercuri makes it all too clear why you can't, with a good conscience, pass up an opportunity to catch one of Obisidian's live shows. - Yellozine

""Flexible Voices""

Obsidian is a melodic, Tool-type of band. But here's the thing, their lead singer, Turi Mercuri (his real name) has one of the most flexible voices you'll hear! - Blogspot.com - unknown

""A Must See""

"...Obsidian rocked the hardest. Turi, Andrew, Ryan, Kevin and Phil whipped out another crushing set. I've seen Obsidian a few times now and I would go see them any day of the week. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Obsidian is a must see!" - Blogspot.com - unknown

Bio

After a few line-up changes over the past 5 years, Kingston, ON. natives Obsidian solidified their sound and artistic direction. Vocalist Turi Mercuri, guitarist Andrew Postlethwaite, guitarist Ryan Chalmers, bassist Kevin Brezina and drummer Phil Elliot have melded the punk, metal and rock genres, much like nature infuses the ingredients that form the rock from where the group takes its name.

The band has recently finished the recording of their new LP with producer Matt DeMatteo (Hawksley Workman, Danko Jones, Big Wreck, Mobile) and are looking forward to its 2007 release. Their LP will be released through M&B Entertainment, distributed through Fontana North in Canada.
