Bio

Start off with a nice song Throw in a few guitars Add a dash of drums Then someone begins shouting. Q. What do you get? A. An average rock n' roll band! Obsolete already knew this before forming back in 2000. The fact that Mixer, Molateen and Beany played together in an average rock n' roll band before the birth of Obsolete was adequate education. So after much consultation, the Mullingar trio hit upon the missing ingredients, 1. Better songs 2. More shouting. Pretty simple eh? Like all good dishes, the formula required moderate tweaking. The fruit of this concoction is passionate, racy songs with magical pop sensibility, delivered with gentle, dirty charm. No more average. The bar was raised, and Obsolete obliged. As Obsolete honed their skills and grew into their skin, the interest also grew. The epic song "Add to the History" taken from their first recording, "The Adventures of Mr. Ludo", was selected for inclusion on "Irish Underground: Best of Irish Unsigned", which grabbed a top 6 position in the Irish compilation charts. The band built up momentum with countless live appearances, including an appearance in the IMRO Showcase Tour 2003, which aroused the attention of many major record labels. But before Obsolete could contemplate the rock n roll dream Beany disappeared to the far corners of Southern Hemisphere in search of rare spices and perfumes, forcing a 15 month sabbatical for the band. Following his return in December 2004, armed with a plethora of new material, Obsolete were back in business! Back, older, wiser2005 saw the band gain recognition with an appearance in Whelans Brave New Stage competition. They also got airtime on National radio, with Today FMs Alison Curtis playing Last Years Brown numerous occasions and featuring the band in her A to Z of Irish Unsigned 2005. Alison went on to describe the band saying, When your good, youre good. Now the band, are preparing for their debut album, which they hope to release early next year. In the meantime, the boys have released a 4 track EP entitled "30 Second Attention Span", featuring "Am I Retarded?", "King Kong", "Unhappy Birthday" and "Lost", plus a bonus track "0:03".
