Bio

Each member of the band OBUS brings with them their own style, but also their own unique ability to meld themselves into one cohesive unit. The Columbus, OH group was born from countless after school basement jam sessions, officially forming in 1998 with all members still under the age of 18. With Chris Minor on Guitar, Will Ong on Drums, and Rob Minor on Bass, OBUS certainly is a reflection of the group's collective personality. Early on, Rob and Will were accepted to Fort Hayes vocational school for music theory, history, recording, business, and live performance classes. It was here that they were affectionately called "the Shitheads" by their teacher, Jim Maneri. During this period, the group had their first taste of live performance in front of stunned coffee house crowds under the name "Big Nasty". After graduation, the team joined with Mark Sims (now of The Tough and Lovely), and Noah Lint as the band "It's a Setup". While this new incarnation only lasted 8 months, the musical super group was able to create some of their most well-known songs R&R, Monkey & Fellow, and Howling The Truth. After shortly experimenting with hip-hop, the original trio separated with Will leaving to explore the south and then the west coast. Upon his return, Will, Rob, and Chris regrouped with a renewed passion and determination to recreate the original trio. All it took was a refreshed sense of self and a couple phone calls to cause the team to rework some older songs as well as write several new ones to fit the 3 piece setup. First show officially as OBUS was at Dick's Den in Columbus, OH on September 11th 2004. The band has officially hit a stride as they continue to play locally at locations such as Billiards Club, Skully's, Bernies Distillery, Little Brothers, Scarlet & Grey Cafe, The Koozma, Oldfieds on High, Ruby Tuesdays, and still a couple coffee houses while crowds steadily increase in size as hype buzzes around town. OBUS plans include releasing a CD, touring, and continuing to write new material, all while broadening their live performances.
