"Sparkadia, Oceanics @ BirdeeNum Num, Brisbane (27/06/11)"

Before long, The Oceanics were greeted by an excited crowd and left them on a raging high. How is that possible? They were at the top of their game, consistently belting out indie-pop deliciousness that had the crowd dancing from start to finish. What’s more, the boys looked to be enjoying themselves as much as their audience, frequently skipping around bottles that were strewn across the stage, occasionally referring to the set lists that were scribbled on the cardboard that said bottles came in. Standout tracks included Romancer and 12 Dollar Specs, both with catchy beats and seemingly effortless guitar solos. The soulful screams of lead vocalist Elliot Weston were a personal favourite, and were not unlike those heard on early albums of The Kooks – that could never be a bad thing. Keep an eye on these boys with their mismatched clothes and Gibson guitars, as they’re completely Winning with their live performances. - Fasterlouder

"Oceanics @ The Troubadour 16/7/10"

"Announcing they’re here only in part, and, in the temporary absence of the complete band, are rather sensibly reconciling with an acoustic set, the Gold Coast’s erstwhile pop-punk four-piece Oceanics settle into the evening with some lush, crooning duet-work. The ying-yang sounds of acoustic guitarist Elliot Western and lead guitarist Jackson Haswell swim around the plush bourgeois loft, as they ease through a short set of quiet re-workings. Sounding, as the tracks softly bleed into one-another, as one astute listener notes, “…just like Jeff Buckley meets The Kooks…”, the boys’ tremendously textured tunes bob in an exquisite sea of liquid electrics, and curt, seaside acoustic-work. Finishing then with the beautiful ‘Romancer’ – one to definitely check out on their MySpace – the duo leave the room with love. "

Bio

Imprinting their own style on Brit-Pop, Oceanics bring their big hollow guitars and clean, jangling tones to the ears of the uninitiated. 9th grade classmates Elliot Weston and Jackson Haswell began writing together in 2005. The introduction of percussionist Andy Geisel soon after initiated years of practising together within the sweaty walls of the groups makeshift loft all whilst flaming the hunger within the band to hit the scene. Late 2009 saw the cementing of bassist Tom Garnett's position, and early 2010 saw Oceanics' live debut.
Since such time the enigmatic four piece have performed at Big Day Out 2011 (Gold Coast), supported US pop Quartet “The Like”, have had videos featured on MTViggy, Artist of the day on MSN & AOL in the USA, performed with “Michi” on MTV Japan, sync’s for Quiksilver Pro Series & Fox 8 program “SLiDE”, showcase at Bigsound Music Conference, had a plethora of shows encasing South East Queensland, New South Wales, many successful shows in Sydney and Melbourne including multiple performances in front of 27,000 people at skilled park (for the Jetstar Titans) and also supported such acts as The Grates, Sparkadia, Deep Sea Arcade, Ball Park Music, The Cairos, Seabellies, Glass Towers and Drawn from Bees gaining reviews from Time-Off’s Sam Hobson:
