"Losing Today"

"Twenty String mystifies, sparkles, tingles and soothes... a thoroughly omnipotent release, bashful and graceful." - Mark Barton

- Sam Machkovech

"Mundane Sounds"

"...their melodies chime like a lullaby for the indie rock set ...perfect music for those who like blissed-out pop, sad-style folk, and just downright beautiful music."
- Joseph Kyle

"Crashin' In"

"...too interesting to ignore. soundscapes... that would fit perfectly with fans of Secret Machines, Calla,
and Her Space Holiday." - Crashin' In

Bio

The five Denton, Texas boys that make up Oceanographer started making noise together in the summer of 2002. Singer Jeremy Yocum, viola player Eric Elterman and drummer Bradly Brown had already been kicking around tunes as a trio for several years. At first Oceanographer was known mostly for quiet, dreamy and atmospheric sets with a definite acoustic leaning, but the addition of guitarist Stephen Kimbrell and bassist Ryan Goolsby brought more volume and energy to their sound. In 2003 they completed their first recording, Twenty String, released on Oceanographer's label One Mountain and distributed through the Los Angeles label Pehr. 2004 found the five-piece living in Brooklyn and releasing their second CD, the full-length On Leaping From Airplanes.
