Bio

October Burning has been a staple of the flourishing San Diego hard rock scene for over six years. The band exudes the musical passion that brings in crowds and keeps them captivated, while they also exemplify the professionalism that impresses promoters and those with whom they share the stage. Music is not a pastime for any member of this band; rather, it is the lifeblood in the bond of five brothers that coalesce as one living, breathing symphonic entity. Mikey Morales and Hector Machado present a flurry of driving guitar riffs and melodic arpeggios to create a soundscape like no other. Ricky Paniagua pounds drumheads with commanding fury and abuses cymbals in meticulous tempo. Aaron Spaulding methodically slaps and thrashes bass stings while soaring about the stage. Vocalist Eric Rustler belts out dramatic verses one moment and purrs a dreamy chorus the next. He sings of love and hate, betrayal and redemption, blissfulness and emptiness.

Four of the five band members grew up in San Diego, and knew one another throughout the years while playing in separate bands. Formed in 2003, October Burning began when Ricky and Mikey, bandmates in a previous heavy metal collaboration, brought in long time friend Hector on guitar. In early 2005, Marcos Curiel of San Diego-based band P.O.D. took a strong interest in the group, noticing the subtantial talent and drive that they possessed. Marcos quickly offered to step in and produce the band. During the lengthy creation process, October Burning developed their raw, passionate feel with one missing element: a vocalist. While experimenting with different singers, the band had struggled to find the front man they needed to compliment their sound. In February of 2007, Eric stumbled across an ad Mikey placed in search of a singer. He submitted a demo, and made the move from Milwaukee to Southern California that April. It was unanimous -- the chemistry that Eric brought completed the signature sound sought after, and the October Burning roster was finally complete.

October Burning released their debut EP, "Rise From the Ashes", in 2008. The album was produced by Marcos Curiel and released on his own Blacklisted Royalty Recordings imprint. After gaining regular airplay, the first single "Rescue Me" was featured on San Diego radio station Rock 105.3's fan-voted compilation CD "Loud and Local" and was the top vote-getting song. Later that year, strong album sales and word-of-mouth helped the group obtain sponsorship from Carvin, the nation's number one factory-direct manufacturer of guitars and pro audio. October Burning is the only unsigned band that Carvin currently sponsors. Sponsorships from Guitarheads Pickups, Tribal Clothing, and numerous others followed soon thereafter.

This band has the potential and the commitment to succeed not only in San Diego, but nationwide and abroad. Their esoteric blend of hard rock and melodic metal does not merely descend into the mainstream, but rather it rises to the top of a convoluted sea of "sound-the-same" bands. With hundreds of shows played to an ever-growing fanbase, production by a music industry superstar, and five individuals firmly committed to their craft, October Burning is poised to seize hold of the music scene and have their presence felt by all.
