Bio

You have now discovered the best band in the world.

Alternative rock band Odd Czar is an entirely unlikely fusion of diverse musical tastes and experiences. Lead singer Mike Beck and guitarist Rob Ritchie first met in 1996 in music school at McGill Univerisity in Montreal. After practicing bebop together for a few years, Mike moved back to home to Boston to finish studying at Berklee College of Music, and Rob went to Halifax and later Toronto to begin his assault on the Canadian music world at large. At Berklee, Mike met drummer Joe Goretti from Buffalo and struck up a friendship. Little did they know that all three of them would end up in NY a few years later and share a newfound and mutual desire to rock. By this time, Mike had toured with Mighty Mighty Bosstones trombonist Dennis Brockenborough in Dennis' hard-rocking new band Chubby and established himself in the NY singer-songwriter scene as a solo performer. Joe had played with countless funk and R&B projects, including an appearance on The Late Show with Devid Letterman as the sole white boy in No. 1-selling Def Jam artist Neyo's band. Rob was enjoying his in-demand status in the NY jazz world. The addition of Kentucky-born bassist Nate Stevens was the last remaining step toward the creation of one of the most envelope-pushing, high-energy new rock bands on the east coast. Since their inception, Odd Czar has played shows at important NY clubs The Mercury Lounge, Arlene's Grocery, Piano's, Crash Mansion, and The Middle East and Lizard Lounge in Boston. Last summer, the band performed for 6000 people with Kevin Bacon and The Bacon Brothers in Stamford, CT. Look for Odd Czar on tour in the Northeast this summer.
