Biography

What do you get when you cross five college students with a passion for straight-up rock and roll? One of the hottest bands on the current Cincinnati scene, Oddfellows Temple.

OT was formed several years ago by close friends Steve Collins and Ryan Steadman (two singer/guitarists), with bassist Sam Segrist and Craig DeToto on drums. They soon became favorites in the Ohio college-party circuit, and regulars at Cincinnati venues including The Mad Frog, Top Cats, The Cavern, and The Madison Theater. Winning fans at shows alongside other cincy rockers July For Kings (MCA Records), Buckra, Corbit, Bosley, and more, their efforts have been awarded with a huge group of young, attractive, beer-guzzling fans, and a victory in the 2002 Mad Frog Battle of the Bands.

"He went off to college to get away...He was the big man on campus, and everyone knew...But along with his prestige, came enemies..." Those lyrics are from "Blinded", a song about the social change and adaptation that comes with going away to school. While calling OT a "college band" is certainly no stretch of the imagination, their music steers clear of the jam-band stereotypes you might expect from a group of book-bag wearing twenty-something’s. Rather, OT uses melodic guitar driven rock and emotional, sometimes conversational, sometimes dark lyrics to tackle the pressures of growing-up while finding (and keeping) post-adolescent love. This is summed up in two lines from "First Song", a mid-tempo rock ballad: "And our lives have changed now and so have we. But we’ll still be together yeah, you and me."

The future of OT remains unwritten, but with the release of their new E.P. "The Four Song E.P.", Oddfellows Temple is bound to continue stirring up the emotions of a like-minded rapidly growing fan base.

Believe

Written By: Steve Collins/Oddfellows Temple

Did you learn from your mistakes or seek a place of refuge far from this world?
Was it real or was it fake?
Did you leave behind a landslide, fall back behind again?
Again and again I see your shining face falling from the stars so high up above

And I know the world could be a better place if you just believe in me
And I know it all could work out in the end if you just wait and see
I'll be there in the end

And I have only one more moment left to tell you just how I feel
But I can't get it out, words can't express the pain and aching that I have so real for you

And I know the world could be a better place if you just believe in me
And I know it all could work out in the end if you just wait and see

And I can but I won't see you
I should but I don't feel you
I know and I care but I can't go on

And I know the world could be a better place if you just believe in me
And I know it all could work out in the end if you just wait and see

Fooled

Written By: Steve Collins/Oddfellows Temple

Why do I see you standing there all across that white room?
Why did I take the wrong path, why did I go back to you?

If I could stand at that crossroad again, never would I have become your friend
But I would say to you one more time, true love is hard to find
Why did you lie to me in the end, why did you fool me again?

I tried so hard to understand why I was fooled again
Broken dreams are so hard to mend
But no, I won't be fooled again
No I won't

It's what I feel down inside that I want, want to hide
But I can't because it's too strong
What is right and where is wrong
And there you stood, it's not fair
Why did you lie to me in the end, why did you fool me again?

I tried so hard to understand why I was fooled again
Broken dreams are so hard to mend
But no, I won't be fooled again

No I won't, I won't be fooled
No I won't, I can't be fooled
No I won't, why was i such a fool?
No I won't, I won't be fooled again

First Song

Written By: Ryan Steadman/Oddfellows Temple

Take your picture, I see your smile but you're still with him
You're still with him
The days go by and the weeks they come, and I'll be alone
I'll be alone

The years, they pass
And the time is now that we'll be together girl, yeah right here
Right Now

If you take my life child, you will see that I'm the only
The only one
If you take my hand child, you will see that you're the only one
You're the only one

The sun comes and the moon, it goes
And we'll be together and be happy
The stars are high and the fog is near
And we'll be together just you and me

Our lives have changed now and so have we but we'll still be together girl, just you and me

If you take my life child, you will see that I'm the only
The only one
If you take my hand child, you will see that you're the only one there is for me

You're the only there is for me for eternity

Fade Away

Written By: Steve Collins

I don't know about it anymore
Things just aren't the same
The life I once had is no more
Am I the once to blame?
The elderly woman down the street and all the people I meet don't add up to a damn thing at all when you're feeling like you're three feet tall

Why don't I care anymore?
Why don't I know what this is for?
As all the time keeps slipping away but please oh please don't you fade away

I know you're still out there reaching for the stars
But if things don't work out like you think, if it's the same for you, I'll just fade away

I don't know all the answers, all I know is what I see
Just keep on gazing into the future to find out what you believe

Why don't I care anymore?
Why don't I know what this is for?
As all the time keeps slipping away but please oh please don't you fade away

I know you're still out there reaching for the stars
But if things don't work out like you think, if it's the same for you, I'll just fade away

And if things don't work out like you think, it's the same for you, I'll just fade away

Fade Away Now
Fade away my life, fade away my love
Fade away my life, my love
Fade Away, Fade Away, Fade Away, Fade Away Again

Trust

Written By: Steve Collins/Oddfellows Temple

So fucked up over things that matter the least, hand on my heart the pain tries to increase
Trying to find the good but it has diseased

Words can't describe the feelings ignored, the feeling of rejection as the lion roars
Trying to figure out what the fuck this is all for

I don't believe in trust anymore
So fucked up, my life is at war

Keep on searching, I look to the east trying to find a new kind of belief
But all I could find was the devil and the beast

The grey clouds come and they go away. search for the sun but the sun can't stay
Leaves me with feelings that I've been betrayed

I don't believe in trust anymore
So fucked up, my life is at war

Apology

Written By: Steve Collins/Oddfellows Temple

Oh how I remember the things from the past
The realization that it won’t last, oh no it’s gone too far away
Those things you said to me
You said, “Son this is how it’s got to be for you”
I said, “Dad you know I can’t do that,
I need to live my life but thanks for the chat, oh no…I’m sorry
For those things you made me believe
I was blind, but now I see the truth and it hurts so bad”

And time goes by, the days are all the same
I won’t ever change for you
And now you want me to be a man I really can’t
Oh no, I can’t do that

Why must you say those things
All the memories that you bring to me, I don’t want them anymore
Why can’t I forgive and forget
Well everything turns to shot when you say you’re sorry
You’re really not, you just say those words
Everything’s a lie that I heard from you and now I know

And time goes by, the days are all the same
I won’t ever change for you
And now you want me to be a man I really can’t
Oh no, I can’t do that
Oh no, I can’t do that

And time goes by, the days are all the same
I won’t ever change for you
And now you want me to be a man I really can’t
Oh no, I can’t do that
No no, I can’t do that

Such covers have included: "Last Dance with Mary Jane", Tom Petty; "Brown Eyed Girl", Van Morrison; "Honkey Tonk Woman", Rolling Stones; and of coarse "Sweet Home Alabama", Lynard Skynard. If we do decide to play a cover song, we like to do our own renditions of older songs like the above listed.
