Bio
O deer formed in Brooksville, ME in late 2010. We met through our involvement with the Living Daylight, a West Brooksville dance band that plays local celebrations and weddings. The band's four members, inspired by one anothers' creativity and musical ambition, had the impetus combine our dreams of telling stories through song. Soon after we found magic hiding in an old pump organ being stored in our barn. After discovering the squeaky charm and rich overtones hidden within the 130-year-old handmade new friend, we started singing.
We turned our experiments into songs, polished them up and hit the road on a 3-date Winter tour along the New England coast. The adventure was a success, three packed houses, and some extra cash for a fancy breakfast and the ride back north. The group is gearing up for and string of performances in summer 2012 and an initial release this winter.
O deer's members hail from the rural coast of Maine where we co-run an open mic that has seen a large range of acts and the occasional touring band. The many seasons of open mics create a kind of musical vitality known to many who experience summers in West Brooksville. We lovingly carry and that spirit when we play.
