"FAULT MAGAZINE WEEKLY PLAYLIST: OFELIA K"

Ofelia K is a rising indie pop artist hailing from Los Angeles, California who first caught our attention with her ephemeral tracks “White T-Shirt” earlier this year. The West Coast dwelling singer has an undeniable penchant for penning heartfelt lyrics and tender indie folk songs. Paired with her laidback good looks and sweet style, Ofelia K is one of our artists to watch, and so we’ve invited her to share some of her favorite songs, both past and present. - Fault Magazine

"Ofelia K - Gone"

What's so good?
This song had me within seconds. That grainy synth in the begging stole my attention, and Ofelia K's wispy vocals kept it from beginning to end. When she returned to the blogosphere with "White T-Shirt," I had high hopes for her, and they've honestly been met.

"My producer/co-writer Dr Rosen Rosen played me a track he was messing around with that had a beautiful organ falling slightly in and out of tune. I was really obsessed with it and we began building “Gone” around that part. I love the sadness of the subject matter, mixed with the optimism of the instrumentation."

Doctor Rosen Rosen has produced for Kay and Meg Myers, along with producing an official remix for Lady Gaga. Despite how impressive all of those noteworthy accomplishments are, I'm more obsessed with his work with Ofelia than anything. With a sound like this, it's hard not to fall in love her music. - Indie Shuffle

"Song Premiere: Ofelia K - White T-Shirt"

The loudest voices are often the ones that, ironically, have the smallest impact. It’s the softspoken individuals whose voices pack a punch that hit harder than most. That goes for both traditional orators and musicians like Ofelia K. There’s a delicacy to her new song, “White T-Shirt,” that forces the listener to pay attention. And what they’re paying attention to feels like a diary entry.

“White T-Shirt” comes off Ofelia K.’s forthcoming solo EP. Its intimate lyrics quietly mesh with a twinkling production of synths, guitars, and a light drum. Whether intentional or not, hints of Lana Del Rey’s west coast cool are sprinkled throughout. There’s no drama to the track, through; its simple melody is free of swelling drops and boom-boom-pows. Rather, “White T-Shirt” flows smoothly from the speakers and wraps around you. Go ahead, press play: Comfort, like your favorite white t-shirt, awaits—aurally, of course. - Nylon Mag
