Webster’s Dictionary defines OFFICIAL as “adj 1. Authorized by a proper authority. 2. Suitable to a position of authority; formal. – n. 1. One who holds an office or position. 2. A sport referee or umpire.” And that is what he is…OFFICIAL in every sense of the word!

Born in Waco, Texas, Roderick Watson Jr. “aka” OFFICIAL has personified and embodied the name with perseverance, dedication and commitment to his craft. After leaving his home town where he was known for football, basketball and baseball at an early age; OFFICIAL landed a job with Kim Dawson, one of the number one top modeling agency in Dallas, Texas at just the tender age of 12. While at the agency, he modeled for such clients as JC Penny in Plano, TX for 5 years as well as maintaining his academic and athletic standing in school. When he wants in photo shoots and on runways, OFFICIAL would be found writing and working on his craft as an aspiring Rap/Hip-Hop artist.

Life was not without personal and professional trials and tribulations for this young iconic figure. Despite facing personal persecution from coaches, fellow class mates and peers for pursuing his dreams as a Rap/Hip-Hop artist, model, actor and athlete; he never allowed anyone to take his eyes off the prize of making a name for himself in life. All that changed when OFFICIAL landed a character role in the movie, “Serving Sara” with Matthew Perry, Elizabeth Hurley and Cedric “the Entertainer” which was filmed in Deep Elm in Dallas, Texas. Soon after the movie, he filmed commercials for Pep Boys, Hasbro Transformer’s and completed work as voice over’s for various projects through the Kim Dawson Agency. Yet and still, lingered the uncontrollable hunger to grab the microphone of society and tell his story of life and the pursuit happiness despite life’s adversities that suffocate so many of our dreams!

After graduating from High School, OFFICIAL went off to college at Oklahoma State University (OSU) to pursue his career in Business Management where he successfully walked onto the football field as a “walk on” and made the football team. During this time, OFFICIAL continued to harness his skills as a true Rap/Hip-Hop lyricist and free style artist. People quickly took notice of his ability when he won second place at the Slip-N-Slide Talent Showcase Competition in 2008. Since then he has been igniting stages at Core DJs Retreat in Atlanta, GA, Miami Conference Fest in Miami, FL and countless clubs throughout the country and worked with many top producers and DJs such as the Diaz Brothers and DJ Nasty.

Now the time has come for this young artist to emerge as an “official” Rap/Hip-Hop iconic figure. Proof, that in life is what you make it and nothing or no one can hold you back if you believe!
