"Track Review: “More” by NŌVA"

When the first signs of summer begin poking through the shell of springtime, a whir of conversation begins about the plans of getaway and celebration to come in the months ahead. Talk of beaches, parties, camping trips, airports, festivals, sand, sun, and breeze take over dialogue. Well, here we are. It’s mid-season, and I have yet to hear any chatter of summer anthems, the most vital part of the heat-drenched months. This was disappointing at first, until I realized that we were all left hanging because the perfect summer anthem hadn’t been released until now. And it couldn’t have arrived at a better time.

NŌVA is an up-and-coming hometown hero from Montreal, Quebec. Her debut single, “More” (which will be featured on her upcoming EP), reflects the fruits of a very passion-driven labor. Emily Kafoury, the hardworking and inspired brains behind the Alt-Pop superforce, enchants us with her effortless voice of velvet and sweet tendresse. The compliments of rich, synth-y drone waves come in strong, fizzle out in a crackle, and wrap it all up in a lavish bloom of three minutes. With warming colour tones and a relaxed chillwave inspired beat, this is the ultimate song to get your lax beach bum on.

Instantaneously captivating, and equally as catchy, this luxurious sound charms right away and can only promise big and bright things for the young singer-songwriter’s future. She is definitely one to watch.

You can find NŌVA on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Soundcloud, and you can buy “More” on iTunes. Keep up-to-date with future releases and tour dates by checking out her website, too. - The Pulp Zine

"EXCLUSIVE: World Premiere of NŌVA’s Debut Single “More”"

If you missed it, last week, we announced in a compelling interview that CONFRONT would have the honour of premiering the up-and-coming, Montreal-based singer-songwriter, NŌVA’s lead single. The day has finally arrived, and this shooting star of a track is ready to make its way from NŌVA’s caring hands, into the ears of eager listeners everywhere.

“More” is the beautiful lead single to NŌVA’s upcoming debut EP, and is absolutely addictive, to say the least. NŌVA’s crystal clear vocals drip alluringly over a synth-infused beat, building into an electric bridge, and totally hummable chorus. The track is reminiscent of Banks, Ellie Goulding, and Tove Lo’s work, but is unique in its pure, unadulterated talent. The track is flawlessly produced by Connor Seidel of Evermoor Audio in Montreal.

Although NŌVA has only just begun, it is doubtless that this ethereal Montreal act will gain speed quickly. Make sure to look out for concert dates, which will be announced here on CONFRONT in due time. In the meantime, listen to “More” below and purchase it on iTunes here! - Confront Magazine

"NŌVA-More"

NŌVA is a 19-year-old popstress from Montreal, Canada, who just released her first single More, which is taken from her forthcoming debut EP. It’s an addictive song with a synth-driven marvelous chorus which, despite its catchiness, has also an obvious dark undertone. Vocals are bright and strong and reminds us of BANKS, whose song Under The Table has not surprisingly been covered by NŌVA in a great stripped down version.

Talking with Confront Magazine, she said: “My music genre is probably Alt-Pop, if you want to label it, because my music is not white, it’s not black; it’s grey. For smell, I’d say like, sea salt. I love that smell. It’s fresh and it’s distinctive. It’s rare. And for taste, pizza. My music has layers.” - Going Solo

"NŌVA-More"

NŌVA is a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Montreal, Canada.

When we first listened to NŌVA, we thought her sound had similarities to R&B soulstress, Banks , and then we discovered a stripped back cover of Banks’s ‘Under The Table’ on her Soundcloud.

Following a busy stint in the studio, NŌVA has excitingly self produced her debut track ‘More’ for our listening pleasure.

It is full of dark and edgy undertones. - Indietronica

"Introducing NŌVA"

NŌVA is the Latin word for new and it also is an astronomy word describing an explosion of a star in the universe above us.

NŌVA is a Canadian born singer and songwriter from Montreal. From a young age, she was exposed to many different genres of music. Classically trained in violin and voice she began discovering her true artistic genre. Always working on new songs to perform live, her music to many comes across as dark and edgy. “Sometimes in life we go through things that aren’t always fun, I try to express myself as much as possible through my songs” she says.

About working with Postcards For Peace, NŌVA says:

“When I came across Postcards For Peace, I felt an instant connection to their message and how they want to promote hope and change. I was raised to embrace everybody and to not judge anybody no matter where they were from, who they were or how they looked. Unfortunately, not everybody thinks that way and I think we need to keep spreading that message of tolerance. A lot of my friends are gay and I’ve seen first hand how some of them are judged and mistreated. This is something I can’t stand by and watch. People should not be treated any differently than you wish to be treated. Gender, race or sexuality should not be a factor in how you treat people. My wish for the world is an abundance of love and peacefulness but to get there we must do all that we can to spread that message”. - Postcards for Peace

Three words I’d use to describe myself are….Eccentric, loud, weird

I knew I wanted to become a musician when….I discovered what music was. I think that aspiration has always been inside of me!

I find inspiration from….My friends, people I see walking in the streets. Gaga, Freddie Mercury.

For fun I like to….Write songs. Go to yoga. Hang with my friends and eat pizza.

Something I hope to accomplish as a musician is….Inspiring just one person.

My favorite songs of all time include….That’s a tough one! But two of them are “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel.

My favorite tracks to play live are….I’ve written so many new songs lately that it would be hard to choose! However I also do a few covers live and I really love singing “Wicked Games” by The Weeknd.

I’m currently listening to….Zella Day, BANKS, Queen

The first song I wrote was….I wrote this song when I was maybe 6 or 7 called “I Look Out The Window” it took me a few years to realize that it was “Last Christmas” with different words!

One thing I want you to remember while listening to my music is….To just let go of any insecurities or troubles that you may have in those few moments. Just relax and jam out!

Something odd I want my fans to know about me is….I’m double jointed…idk

My last meal would be….Pizza or sushi. Or both. Oh and olives. I love olives.

I’m absolutely terrified of….Spiders

In the next six months you should expect….More music and shows!!! - Kryptonite Music
