Bio

Of Forgotten Dreams captures the ears of their audiences by writing catchy guitar riffs and melodies to accompany the hardcore, edgy screams with the light, aesthetic female vocals. The band is influenced by many, everything from Story of the Year and Evanescence, to Eyes Set to Kill and A Day to Remember. Using those bands in mind, they created their own original style, a sound that fuses multiple genres and breaches the borders of how music is “supposed to sound.” Unlike some bands in the hardcore realm, OFD does not write flowery meaningless lines of abandon and sorrow that simply sound good together and happen to be catchy. They want people to be able to understand and relate to their music. Their lyrics tell of real life struggles that everyone goes through, and even focus on otherwise “risky” topics of discussion, including depression, sexism, death, and conformity.

In addition, the band wants to break the unspoken stigma of female musicians participating in the hardcore scene. Vocalist Jasmine Carter hopes to change that by encouraging other young women to "stand up and stand out" in music and prove that "girls can rock just as hard as boys."

Although OFD has not technically been a band long, the connection they have created between themselves and audiences of all sizes is intangible and impressive. The band is ambitious, possessing the same drive and goals as bigger bands, while balancing classes with practice, jobs with local and out-of-town shows, and life in general as young adults. With little help and guidance they have overcome many obstacles and setbacks that would have easily torn other bands apart.

Their EP “Stand As One” displays just a tip of the iceberg of the band’s talent and all they are capable of accomplishing in the future.

Now some interesting facts about Of Forgotten Dreams!

***Fun Fact #1: One of their artistic goals is to play a show with Austin hardcore royalty, Fire From the Gods.“They are so well respected not only on our homefront, but all across Texas, if not the entire country.”

***Fun Fact #2: The band was originally named “Remind Me I’m Alive,” but due to member changes and creative differences, the name was changed in September 2010 to “Of Forgotten Dreams” shortly after the release of their EP, Stand As One. The name comes from the sacrifices every member of the band has made to pursue their goals and dreams (mainly for music).

***Fun Fact #3: When asked what animal he would be reincarnated as, rhythm guitarist Forrest Charles named a "lemur"
(but interestingly enough did not give a reason why).
