"Belle Epoque - O Frontera EP"

It took me exactly 33 seconds to decide to post Belle Epoque by O Frontera, and as I listened on it became clear how good a choice that was. I don’t know what they’re putting in the water in Canada but most of my favourite posts from the past few days have come from the land of maples and moose. Maybe Olympic success is the secret to a burgeoning folk scene.

This is another great song for hiding away from Monday. So peaceful, so quiet, so relaxing and relaxed. The vi-IV-I-V chord progression used is nothing new, but the rich baritone and melodic violin make this track.

Have a listen to the rest of their eponymous EP. It’s really rather good. - searchingthroughthrdrivel

Bio

We're an Indie Folk Experimental project with backgrounds as diverse as our musical tastes. O Frontera began as a collaboration between musician and journalist Sebastian Cushing and violist and ethnomusicologist Emily Wang. The project blossomed with the addition of Vancouver Island bassist Shawn Dakin and percussionist and ethnomusicologist Sarah Rieglar. The themes covered in O Frontera's music vary but are often focused on states of transition. The boundaries between ideas, places, periods of time are often porous. O Frontera looks at these frontiers and how they can help us make sense of reality through elements of folk classical and experimental influences.
