"TDWR Review @ Christian Xtreme"

Intense, Brutal, Ear Shattering are just some of the adjectives I could use to describe
Of The Sons latest release The Dead Will Rise. Imagine taking a sledgehammer to
your stereo system and watching gloriously as it shatters into a million pieces and
satisfies your desire for intense brutality. This Cd will grab you by the throat and not
let go until the last note is played out in all it's intense glory. As you can probably tell
I think this Cd is probably one of the best unheard hardcore Cd's out there today. Of
The Son brings all their intensity to the table and dishes it out in heaping servings to
satisfy your hardcore hunger. Some of my favorite tracks are "Epidemic" and "Lion
Of Judah" both songs will kick your teeth in as will just about every song on this Cd.
Track 11 "Save Me" is a nice change of pace song which has an intensity not with the
music but rather the beautiful message that they convey to us about asking Jesus into your life and having him save you. The lyrical content on this Cd is far and above the call of duty. They convey a message of hope and eternal life with Jesus by your side. These 4 musicians from Indiana have a bright future ahead of them and again I would have to say that this is one of the best intense Cds that I've heard in a long time. I highly recommend this Cd and hope everyone goes out and purchases it and shows their support for these guys. - Christian Xtreme - Brad Bowman

Bio

Our lives are defined by the choices we make. It almost goes without saying that in the course of our lifetime some choices will operate exponentially on our lives, affecting untold thousands of other choices. For example, the choice to love a person, to strive for a goal, or to uphold an ideal, will conform dozens of other choices to a pattern that will ensure that the given person is cared for, the goal is accomplished or the ideal is manifested. In the case of four young men from central Indiana, whose collaborative musical efforts are published under the name Of The Son, the vision and purpose of the collective, and thus the choices made by the collective, are determined by a clear conviction to glorify Jesus of Nazareth; whom some call the Messiah.

As for the brief history of the band; in the fall of 2003 a random and unexpected conversation between friends resulted in a brief and even more unexpected phone conversation between complete strangers. A series of experimental practice sessions quickly lead to the formation of a three member ensemble; Ryan (lead vocals), Jon (guitars), Rob (drums). Almost unconsciously the three began the process of writing what would eventually become the December 2004 Wounded Records release The Dead Will Rise. After entering a local battle of the bands in March 2004 Ryans younger brother Nate was added to play bass and the current OTS roster was complete. After a year of touring to promote and support the release of The Dead Will Rise, a new record deal with Harvest Earth Records was inked. The release of an EP entitled At War is nearing completion and will most certainly represent another significant evolution for OTS.

While Of The Son continues to dedicate themselves to exploring new musical boundaries, developing the unique subtleties and nuances of their sound, the true foundation of the band is not a unique bass and drum pattern, powerful guitar chord, or brutal scream, but a steadfast commitment to following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. This is a choice with an exponential effect. Flowing out of their dedication to Jesus Christ, OTS will continue to offer all those that are willing to listen an opportunity to experience an innovative approach to praise and worship music and a clear message of hope and love in the midst of a world that is overwhelmed with trite spiritual clichés and empty religious metaphors.

Ultimately, the words of an ancient Jewish sage provide the ground on which Of The Son will continue to build their music and their lives; But my life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus, the work of telling others the good news of Gods wonderful kindness and love.
