"[EP] Ohini Jonez: The Prelude"

Ohini Jonez provided us with a sample of what was to come with Any Given Sunday ft. Ray Dawn. Now the moment we’ve been waiting for has arrived. Mr. August 26th took his birthday to give us a gift, a freEP. This progressive sound combined with strong lyrical content and delivery is all the reassurance a returning producer-emcee can hope for. - Brain of BMW

"Ohini Jonez The Prelude Fre(EP)"

Birthdays are cool, many would agree gifts are even better. Mr. August 26th, aka Ohini Jonez took his special day to give us The Prelude. A brief seven tracks, all self-produced, includes a remix to his birthday song. There is one emcee featured on this and its none other than his brother from another mother, Ray Dawn aka our favorite law school drop out. We’d like to officially introduce Ohini Jonez of the Ingenious Bandits.
Ohini Jonez is a producer-emcee hailing from Brunswick, GA. Determined to let the world know real art has no boundaries, he along with his crew Ingenious Bandits plan to show the world what happens when hip-hop meets super saiyan smart kids.
Despite a bit of a break to regroup, Ohini’s been rather silent, until recently throwing himself back into production. Though his southern rap inspirations are evident, his progressive sound combined with strong lyrical content and delivery is all the reassurance a returning producer-emcee can hope for.

"rockthedub: "Ohini Jonez ft. Ray Dawn- Any Given Sunday""

"Since Mos Def's taken, I guess I'm most ill" is the first line this cat threw that threw me. Taking "techno breaks and making operas" was the second. Ohini Jonez is returning to the scene with his The Prelude EP, which Kevin Nottingham is dropping ont he 26th of August (his birthday), and this leak is hard. You know my love of quirk within my Hip-Hop, and this one has a different vibe to it. They really go leftfield with the instrumental on this one, and both of these cats go dumb. Shouts to Fawn Nicole for this one - she warned me this one was gonna be special! - Rock The Dub

Bio

“Art is life, and life is an art project in progress” is the motto Ohini Jonez lives by. A producer/MC/songwriter based out of Georgia, Jonez is an artist who doesn't abide by the typical labels the game places on artists, blending commercial sensibilities with edgy subject matter. Having been featured as an MC frequently on KevinNottingham.com, along with a host of other sites devoted to indie exposure Ohini Jonez's underground credibility as a lyricist is unquestioned. As a producer he looks forward to expanding his brand by reaching into other genre's for influence and improvements on his already distinctive sound, lending it to artists as diverse as the underground Pittsburgh up and comer RayDawn, to SoCal rock group Niantic. As the 21st century unfolds, independent fanatics and underground tastemakers can look forward to Ohini Jonez continuing to blur genre lines and expanding beyond the limitations of hip hop, further growing the culture in the process.
