Bio

Ohm-I was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 20, 1989. He started rapping in high school under the name “MC Urkel” and at the time didn’t realize that he unintentionally became part of a bigger Nerdcore movement. After writing one of his earliest songs “Analog Components” in 2010, he changed his name to MC Ohm-I which was definitely more appropriate and original.

With a heavy musical background in Jazz, concert, and marching bands, Ohm-I began to mess around with Fruity Loops like most beginners. While he had no real knowledge of production or recording, he knew well enough about the Nerdcore scene to realize that all he needed to get started was some recording software and the cheapest headset he could find. It was his first step in production as well as song writing and since then, he has grown remarkably in both aspects.

Ohm-I first performed under that name in San Diego, California at a local monthly Nerdcore show in 2012. He was well received, creating comical songs with catchy hooks that were geeky and unusual enough to keep the attention of anyone who may have listened. He’s performed several shows around the San Diego and Los Angeles area and maintains a presence in the San Diego open mic scene. His first big break happened when he opened up for Sony Online Entertainment Live 2013 in front of 2,000+ attendees (not even including the online audience streaming at home).

An Ohm-I track can always be immediately identified by the 4-part harmony hooks or the heavy Jazz and / or orchestral influence he has in his beats. His sense of random humor often leads him to the awkward side of musical topics. He’s rapped about bologna-sized nipples, laptops, and crack rocks. Where will his mind take him next? It’s hard to say. One thing is for certain, though… He will have you listening intently and saying “OH MY!”
