"Oh Stereo"

Oh Stereo is Scott Marquart and Mason Hickman (hailing from Indianapolis and Salt Lake City, respectively), two kids who met their first day of college when they were thrown in a dorm room together and told to get along. Fortunately, they did, and soon they were making music together, each playing guitar. Before long though their neighbors got fed up with all of the noise and Scott and Mason retreated to their computers and started making music on headphones. What followed was a drastic change in style for both, and out of this exciting new territory came the beginnings of Oh Stereo.
Here's the official first single from this emerging indie-pop (synth-pop) duo from Nashville TN, Oh Stereo called 'Waiting For The Sun' which is off of their self-titled debut album (Oh Stereo) which is scheduled to be released for free on December 2nd via their bandcamp. Just about to peruse the full album but I like this first single & I thought I'd share it with you so definitely check it out... Hope you like it!

Do they remind you of Owl City a little bit (in some parts?) or is it just me? Either way I reckon this first single is really well done, I really like it. After a couple listens, I guarantee you'll be hooked, even if it's by the catchy hook alone or the synth-layered musical backdrop, something definitely grabs and holds your attention. Like I said, I hope you like it (too) - iMusic

"Waiting for the Sun"

Oh Stereo is made up of Scott Marquart and Mason Hickman, two college roommates from Nashville, Tennessee. They just started making music a year ago and it seems people immediately picked up on their talent, because they’ve been playing shows around their area every since.

I was another one of those people who immediately recognized their talent in creating sticky pop music. Synth-based, it falls under the fun category. Great driving song, for those of you looking for songs to add to a road trip playlist!

These two have just completed their debut album, which will be released on December 2nd. Based on what I’ve heard in “Waiting for the Sun,” I believe the album holds a lot of promise. These two seem to be on to something! - Sunset in the Rearview

"Speak for Yourself"

Something a little different here to go with the inevitable food coma of the post-Thanksgiving feast. This duo is a couple of college kids from Tennessee, seemingly doing a fine job with putting together synth-filled groove-rock with what I'd imagine to be pretty limited resources. These days you see so many college kids putting out electro, mashup, and hip hop material with simple means from the confines of one's dorm, but you don't see enough of what Oh Stereo does...check 'em out some more at facebook, credit to SITR... - Vibe to This

"Oh Happy Bouncy Synth Pop or Oh Stereo?"

Oh happy bouncy synth pop or Oh Stereo? I don’t think I will tire of these happy tunes that keeps me reminded of summer time when it’s cold out side. Band members Scott Marquart and Mason Hickman bring the sun to your sound system with their very catchy single of their self-titled debut album. The singable lyrics and melodic tune will have you chirping along in no time. - Sounds Like Blank

"Sometimes Big Things Come in Small Packages"

Sometimes big things come in small packages. Electronic duo Oh Stereo have produced their first album in the shelter of their college dorm room in Nashville TN. They chose to release the record after having successfully performed around the local area, and are looking to move on to bigger things. It’s refreshing to see how modest these guys are, and how they’re not afraid to experiment with their boundaries and limitations, even though their resources are relatively scarce living in a dorm.

Now we get sent a lot of music, and Waiting for the Sun stood out. It resembles Owl City with it’s sugar-coated synths and warm backup vocals. There are nice chimes and unexpected notes that weigh in throughout the track, and, having had an advanced hearing of the album (which is released December 2nd), I can tell you that it’s more of the same great kind of stuff. Check out their website for more of their stuff. - Can You Hear This

"Oh Stereo"

Oh, Stereo are a electro pop twosome based out of Nashville. Scott Marquart and Mason Hickman who hail from Indianapolis and Salt Lake City respectively, first met as roommates in college. When two people are thrown together in dorm room, you can never know how it will work out. Fortunately for these two, they shared a deep passion of making music. Starting out using guitars, the two slowly shifted their focus towards making sounds off their computer and using synths in their music. (One reason for this was their neighbors were getting pissed off at all the noise they were making) Through this new change of style, Oh, Stereo was born. The band put in all their old, familiar sounds (guitar, bass, drums) into their new electronic sounds to create something pretty special. Having just finished recording their debut album, that comes out on December 2nd, the two are ready to show the world their creation. 1st single, “Waiting For The Sun”, is something you should start everyday off with because it will put you in such a happy place. Filled with peppy synths, and huge melodies, the song is undeniably catchy. Seriously, try not to repeat the chorus, because it is very hard not to. I can tell just from the song, that this band has a mission to have fun and have the listener dance and let loose. Recording the whole album in their dorm room, makes me even more impressed of them at such a young age in their career. I’m just picturing them recording in an actual studio, and the results could be incredible.

Go to Oh, Stereo’s bandcamp, ohstereo.com to download the single for free and on December 2nd to hear the whole album! - Handclap Movement

"Waiting for the Sun"

Through a We All Want Someone To Shout For post, I was introduced to the duo, Oh Stereo. The pair from Nashville, Tennessee is one part Scott Marquart and one part Mason Hickman. And the recipe is delicious synth pop. Their first album, Oh Stereo, will be released December 2nd.

Waiting For The Sun is the first single off the self-titled album and it’s a positive harbinger. The song starts with a chimey intro that sets the mood of a magical sound. We All Want Someone To Shout For tossed out a Passion Pit comparison–that’s not the first comparison that came to my mind but after listening to Waiting For The Sun a couple times, I can definitely understand where that comparison comes from. Suffice to say, the future looks bright for the electronic duo. - 1146 miles

"Music Lovers of the World Rejoice"

Music lovers of the world rejoice. Our future is bright, filled with brilliant music of multiple genres, and the possiblities grow more and more every day.

That being said, we’d like to introduce you all to Nashville, Tennessee’s Oh Stereo, a band/producer duo of sorts that formed in mid-2009, and who just so happen to be a few weeks out from releasing their debut album.

Although we have to wait a few more weeks to get our hands on all of the material (the LP drops December 2nd) we do have a sneak peak & free download of the album’s first single–Waiting for the Sun–and we definitely want all of you to check it out.

Featuring a driving beat, an extremely catchy synth line, a touch of xylophone and some seriously excellent vocals, Waiting For The Sun will make you an Oh Stereo fan, and chances are it’ll have you asking to hear more. Enjoy! - The Get Downnn

"Introducing: Oh Stereo"

Meet Oh Stereo. They’re Scott Marquart and Mason Hickman, a duo from Nashville, Tennessee. They met after becoming roommates in college. They soon started making music together, retreating from guitars, and experimenting with electronics. The result is the delicious synth pop of Oh Stereo. They’re releasing their self titled debut album on December 2nd, and it will be available as a free down at their bandcamp.

“Waiting For The Sun”, the first single from the album is available for free download. It’s my first taste of this band, and I’m convinced Scott & Mason are onto something good. “Waiting For The Sun” is dipped with the finest layers of electronic happiness. With vibrant synths, and a chorus that will reel you in, their sound is probably easiest to identify with bands like Passion Pit. Don’t worry though, these guys have their own agenda, and it’s one that seems to be working. - We All Want Someone to Shout For

Eventually they started reintegrating guitar, bass, and drums into the new electronic sound they had discovered and began recording their debut album. Now, just shy of a year later, the album is finally finished. The first thing you notice about it, considering it was recorded in an 8'x8' dorm room, is how big it sounds. They work layers of melody together underneath catchy vocal melodies and on top of carefully programmed percussion into a sound that is equally enjoyable on headphones or on the dance floor. But it's hard to describe music with words without making a fool of yourself (or what you're describing), so why don't you just listen to it already and decide for yourself?
