"Music Release Features Edmond Talent"

Four of Edmond’s church soloists are included in an all star album of Oklahoma voices performing their favorite love songs. Kent Jones Productions, also of Edmond, announces the release of his Oklahoma Love Journey which includes each performer’s story about why the song is meaningful.

Jones set out to record Oklahoma’s best church voices singing popular music. He contacted every church in the state before finally selecting fourteen vocalists for the project.

Jones, a prominent state radio personality, is Master-of-Ceremonies on the live concert album. “The compelling stories of the songs made each one so personal that they became part of the music. This CD is an evening people will enjoy. It’s a journey, a musical love journey across the state,” Jones said.

The two hour, 2 CD set includes Edmond vocalists Alyssa Siler (First Presbyterian Church and who appears on the CD cover with her daughter Hayden), Melissa Kamm (New Covenant United Methodist Church), Greg Bunton (First Christian Church) and Davis Cole (First Baptist Church).

“Their songs and stories touched me; some made me cry; and I didn’t anticipate they would make me think. It is much more than the music I started after. It captures your emotions and intellect for hours,” Jones explained.

The CD is sold at ______________________. You may join the Oklahoma Love Journey mailing list for monthly drawings and news at www.lovejourneyusa.com.

"KOMA Radio Director Collecting Crooners for Compilation"

October 23, 2007

OKLAHOMA CITY – Kent Jones often is amazed by the singing talent he hears in church – so much so
he wants to make a CD of the top crooners from around the area. Jones, who has been KOMA Radio’s
program director of 19 years, had the idea that selling local singers makes good business sense, and he plans to do so with a Feb. 1 release, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Jones is in the process of taking entries. The deadline is Nov. 30, and by then, Jones hopes to have seen or heard dozens of singers. He knows they’re out there.

“I have over the years played a lot of karaoke parties and I’ve also seen a lot of churches that have
fantastic singers,” he said. “They want to sing because it’s in their heart. It will be cool to have them heard and give them some exposure.”

Singers can submit a recording of any song they chose, and Jones requires a letter from the church
verifying the entrant is a soloist. A photo and personal note regarding are required. The metro is full of
churches that have talented singers, he said.

While the singers will come from churches, the music on the CD doesn’t necessarily have to be gospel, he said. “It can be bluegrass, country, pop, oldies or even original songs,” Jones said. “These are love songs to go
along with Valentine’s Day.” And it will be about more than just sound. “We want to know why a song has meaning and we also want to also include background on the singers,” he said. “We want the story behind the singer.”

The CD will be marketed online and through churches. He said churches can use them as a fundraiser. The singers, if chosen, will have a recording contract and will be paid a royalty on the sale. There’s no cost to the singers. “It’s privately funded; we just need to hear from them,” Jones said.

All that’s required is a good voice.
“Most people are thinking they’d need a pianist or a karaoke set-up,” he said. “They don’t. A recording (submitted to Jones) doesn’t have to be professional quality.”

Jones said he hopes to line up 12 to 16 songs for the CD. He said he’ll need to obtain rights to duplicate a song. “We’ll try not to run into problems with publishers.”
Jones said he’ll occasionally go out to the churches to hear the singers.
“We want to get them into the studio in December or January,” he said. “The recording studio is my
private studio. I have recorded many things there over the years. We will bring in musicians if needed. It’s not a set-up like Nashville, but it’s still professional.”

He hopes the metro’s best Sunday singers can help themselves.
“This is a for-profit deal,” he said. “We will pay royalties to singers. If Oklahoma is a success, we’ll see if others states can be, too.” If the singers’ CD makes money, an instrumental CD could be next, he said.

“We need it to be profitable because there are a lot of expenses, including the studio time and all the mastering to distribution,” Jones said. “We hope to sell up to tens of thousands.”
He said recordings and verification letters can be submitted to Kent Jones Productions, P.O. Box 851957, Yukon, Okla., 73085-1957.

"Local Church Singer, Son on CD Release"

February 14, 2009
Brenda Cowell was elated when
she was selected for Kent Jones
Productions’ Valentine’s Day release
of “Oklahoma Love Journey.”
In “Oklahoma Love Journey,”
church soloists get to perform their
favorite love songs and tell the story why the song is so meaningful to them.

An INTEGRIS nurse by day,
Brenda’s musical life began with her
vocalist father, performing with her
sisters in Oklahoma and Texas.

A vocalist at the United Methodist
Church of the Good Shepherd in
Yukon, the Pocasset/Chickasha
native was selected as one of
Oklahoma’s best church voices to
sing popular music on the two hour,
two-CD set. Brenda is one of
only 14 in the state selected.
Brenda’s son Matthew also plays
trumpet on the release, albeit not on his mother’s song. Matthew certainly insures his family’s musical legacy will survive though. He arranged the climatic accompaniment to “Breathe”
performed by Alyssa Siler, who
is featured on the CD cover.

Brenda’s song, “The Woman in Me,”
includes the story of developing a realistic – and romantic – relationship with husband Randy over 30 years.

“Spouses are like jobs,” Brenda
says, “because you must find the
one with faults you can live with.
Randy and I do that; and - I like the
way he looks at me!”

Producer Kent Jones hosts the
live concert release. “The audience treasured Brenda’s honesty and fervent song,” Jones said. “She blew them away. Vocalists like Brenda made this a journey
through the love and music found
across Oklahoma. Together, it’s more than the music I started after; it’s an evening that captures your emotions and intellect. They touched me.”

The CD is available at Loving
Touch Crafters Mall in Yukon or online at cdbaby.com

Executive producer of “Oklahoma
Love Journey” is Fred Imel, author of Oklahoma’s Film & Music Credit Act and CEO of Entertainment
Investment Producers LLC in Yukon. - Yukon Review

"Green Country Singer Stars on Cd"

February 14, 2009
Tahlequah’s Becky Wright was elated when selected for Kent Jones Productions’ release of
“Oklahoma Love Journey.” In it church soloists perform their
favorite love songs and include the touching story behind each song,
according to a media release.

The Green Country mother to 10 teaches music and drama. Her
vocal career includes Nashville
performances, touring 14 states in two months and collecting songwriting awards.

A soloist at Tahlequah’s Grace Baptist Church, Wright was selected as one of Oklahoma’s best church voices to sing popular music on the two-hour, two-CD set. A graduate of Northside Christian Academy in Tulsa and
Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, she is one of 14 in the state selected.

Wright’s “Cherish This Moment” tells of an evening when rocking her baby boy Nathan while frankly thinking she should be doing something else.

Relating how God spoke to her at that moment, Wright captured regret and wisdom in her song. It appears on the all-star CD with an added bonus of her now older Nathan singing a supporting role.

“That anxious, late night rocking chair moment has been shared by many parents. Her struggle and resolution are real. The audience absolutely treasured her song and performance with the boy she wrote the song for,” said producer Kent Jones.

Jones hosts the live concert release. “Stories like Becky’s made the CDs a journey through love and music across Oklahoma. It’s more than the music I started after. It captures your emotions for hours,” Jones said. “They are all unique and like with Becky’s
moment, touched me.”

The CD is available at N’Tune Music/Tahlequah, online at
www.beckywrightsongs.com or www.cdbaby.com and other retailers across Oklahoma. Check out the mailing list and offer to join the Love Journey Choir at www.lovejourneyusa.com. - Muskogee Phoenix

Oklahoma Singers Release Love Song CD for Valentine’s Day
Contributors across state relate stories inspiring their favorite love songs

For a college beauty queen, life didn’t get much better. Alyssa Siler was being cast in local musical productions, led the church worship music on Sunday and her modeling career was taking off. She had married Ryan, a sharp, good looking salesman and each day was exciting.

She and Ryan started a family and before Hayden was born, they had no idea she had any kind of medical problems at all. When her daughter’s diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis was returned, their lives turned upside down.

“It was a scary and trying time,” Alyssa relates in the story about her favorite love song, Breathe, on the Kent Jones Productions Valentine’s Day release of Oklahoma Love Journey. The 2hr, 2 CD set features church soloists like Alyssa performing their favorite love songs and telling heartfelt stories of why the songs are so meaningful to them.

The family was elated when Alyssa was selected one of Oklahoma’s best church voices to record popular music; only fourteen in the state where chosen.

Alyssa’s rendition of Breathe is preceded by the gripping story from her early marriage. The young mother sought to protect her baby and took up a new relationship with God. “My prayers became like the song, very simple because I knew I couldn’t do it alone. The good thing was, I didn’t have to!” Alyssa says.

Producer Jones hosts the interviews in the live concert release. “Alyssa immediately captures your emotions,” Jones states. “Many can relate to surviving a threat to a child. They survived, and are now surviving daily by being friends with God. Her song transformed the word ‘breathe’ for me.”

Altogether, the CDs form a journey through music and love in Oklahoma. It’s much more than the music I started after,” Jones explained. “They touched me too.”

The CD is available at Charlie’s Records/OKC, INTEGRIS Baptist Gift Shop/OKC, Loving Touch Mall/Yukon, Lasting Impressions/Shawnee, A Touch of Home/Woodward, Energy Force/Edmond and at the popular online distributor www.cdbaby.com.

MUSIC: CD PROJECT GATHERS CHURCH VOCALISTS TO PERFORM HEARTFELT SONGS
By: Carla Hinton

Sarah Sasnett of Norman knew her fiance was a good singer, because he sang at church every Sunday.
When Brady Neal adamantly insisted he wasn’t going to sing at their 2006 wedding, she wasn’t so sure that she believed him. She was right to be suspicious.

Neal, the worship leader at Northeast Baptist Church in Norman, surprised her by
crooning a love ballad — a song he wrote himself — at the couple’s nuptials.

"It just seemed to sum up all my feelings for her,” Brady Neal said of his song, "Hand in Hand.” The Neals’ love story is captured in words and melody in "Oklahoma Love Journey,” a compilation of love songs performed by church vocalists across the state. The compact disc was produced by Kent Jones Productions of Edmond under the direction of Kent Jones and Fred Imel.

On two compact discs, 14 singers who regularly share their vocal gifts with their church
congregations sing their favorite songs of love and share why the songs mean so much to them. Many of the vocalists hail from the Oklahoma City metro area, while others live in cities including Tahlequah, Sallisaw, Tulsa and Woodward.

Imel said he was in his own church, Cedar Lake Chapel, near Hinton, when the idea for "Love Journey” came to him. "I’m probably like a lot of people who attend church, and you hear singers who are not
just singing; they are blowing their hearts out,” Imel said. He said the songs focus on romantic love, love of children and family and love of God, and the singers’ stories are sweet and inspirational.

They express the variety of ways love plays a special role in their lives. "As we were working on it, we realized that this was going to be more than the music we were after,” Imel said.

Brady Neal’s wife, Sarah, said her husband worried a bit that he had put too many personal things in his song, such as the couple’s "pinkie promise.” However, she said she told him those personal remembrances are what make the song so special.

Besides Neal, other singers featured in "Love Journey” include the Rev. Greg Bunton of Edmond and Brenda Cowell of Mustang.

Bunton, 37, is associate minister of student ministries at First Christian Church of Edmond (Disciples of Christ). He sang Josh Groban’s song "You Bring Me Up” for the "Love Journey” project. He told about his efforts to woo his love, a preacher’s kid, past her initial reservations about marrying a pastor. The singer-songwriter’s romantic pursuit was eventually successful, and he ended up singing to his bride, Julie, when
they married 13 years ago.

Bunton, who sings at his church’s contemporary service each Sunday, said he was excited about the CD project. He said he knew immediately who would be the focus of his song dedication.
"I knew if it was going to be on a CD of love songs, I was going to sing a song about my wife. She’s always been there to support me in ministry,” he said.

Cowell, 51, lives in Mustang and is a choir member and soloist at United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd in Yukon. "I thought the fact that everyone is involved in church music makes this unique. There are incredible talents that are singing in church,” she said of the project.

Cowell said she sang "The Woman in Me,” dedicating the song to her husband of 31 years, Randy.
"The everyday trials that you go through, you can go to that one person, and they can make everything all right,” she said.

Bunton said the project offered an unusual opportunity for church soloists. "There are a lot of singers that give their talent on Sunday morning that don’t get
opportunities to be heard outside the church,” he said.
"Sometimes we tend to overlook people right here in our own churches who give that gift every Sunday.” - Oklahoman

We contact every church in the state to find the best voices singing on Sunday, and ask each one to sing a favorite love song, regardless of genre. We also ask for the story behind the song, why it is meaningful. The voices gather for a final choir number at the end.
