Bio

Oklahoma Uprising is an original Americana rock band with a hint of folk and a kick of blues. Oklahoma Uprising is a musical movement for the promotion of all things Okie. Storytelling songs with allegorical undertones and love songs that empathize with the listener echo songwriting influences like Guy Clark, Jason Isbell and Gillian Welch. The sound and feel of their music explores a variety of musical genres from the edgy rock and roll sound of the Drive By Truckers to the clean acoustic tones of Lyle Lovett. You may also hear songs influenced by Bob Dylan's folk, Del McCoury's bluegrass and even Elvis Presely's blues. In addition to their musical versatility and passion for songwriting, the members of Oklahoma Uprising are also passionate about the future of our communities. They are teachers, writers and blue collar workers with a blend of urban and rural fundamentals. They are family oriented and driven by the success of the community. Their love of Oklahoma culture and values fuels their involvement with their fans, students and the people on the fringes. Guthrie based Joel T. Mosman founded Oklahoma Uprising as an uprising for the underdog, an uprising for the common folks, an uprising for the communities of Oklahoma, an uprising for the talented and hardworking Oklahomans and an uprising for the state of Oklahoma to rise up in the ranks of our nation. Oklahoma Uprising is a revolution of the Okie spirit. Zach Wiederstein, the band’s drummer and percussionist was born and raised in the dry, dusty plains of western Oklahoma. Zach is a physical education teacher and football coach. Travis Lyon is the band’s bass player and is also a teacher, basketball coach and adjunct professor from the northwestern part of Oklahoma. Wiederstein and Lyon have been performing music on and off with Joel T. Mosman, the frontman, for many years all over the region. Mosman is a proud father and husband, and a truck driver who values the pursuit of knowledge, the strength of the spirit and the importance of problem solving. He believes in the power of sacrificing for others to achieve the ultimate good. Oklahoma Uprising: Oklahoma Music. Oklahoma Community. Oklahoma Spirit.
