Bio

Old Head The MC is as passionate about his music as he is about life itself; for music is life according to the 39-year old lyricist and producer. It is that fiery passion for his craft that has kept Old Head in the hip-hop world since 1981. At the age of seven, Old Head was first introduced to turntablism in his hometown of Norwalk, CT. It was at a neighborhood block party that he was hypnotized by the back-to-back spinning of the ones and twos. In reflection he says: It was love at first site! I knew at that first moment that I was born to do what I saw that DJ doing. Old Head recalls going home and nearly destroying his family stereo in an attempt to replicate the sounds he heard at that block party. After several years of begging, he finally got his wish at the age of twelve, when he received a full DJ system as a Christmas gift. I told my parents I would never ask for another gift for the rest of my life. Old Head became one of the youngest and most highly skilled turntablists in his area, and would go on to form several rap groups for which he was the DJ and producer. With an affinity for the eclectic sound, he was ahead of his time in many regards, and still stays true to his attraction for strange and unorthodox sounds in his music.

It wasnt until the age of fourteen that he began to even consider writing lyrics and being a rapper. He recalls: I was always very comfortable being the guy in the background, and making the rappers sound good. I hated my voice at first, and I was also too shy to be in the spotlight. However, Old Head maintains that he always felt like he could be just as good as what he heard on the radio, if not better. Over time he would continue to grow and sharpen his skills as a writer and producer.

Now a resident of Baltimore, MD at age 39, Old Head The MC is forging ahead with his project 35 And Over. This project is about a dude with gray hairs, reminding the younger dudes not to forget where it all started. Old Head abstains from profanity in his lyrics, choosing rather to draw from an extensive vocabulary and life experiences. His music is filled with punch-lines and metaphors, combined with beats that bear witness to his old-school roots. If you enjoy the retro sounds of the 90s from artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, Wu Tang Clan, and Gang Starr, you will positively enjoy listening to Old Head The MC over and over again!
