"Old James - Live Review"

These guys definitely know how to put on a show. Old James is one of the best Toronto hard rock bands I've seen this year. Their music will be stuck in your head for days, it's filled with great riffs and powerful lyrics. Their live performance is a force to reckoned with, not only is their musical skill and stage antics extremely entertaining to watch, but their always sure to give the crowd a laugh in between songs. Old James has powerful music, explosive stage presence and they're all around great guys - Dropout Entertainment

"Old James 4 Song E.P."

This new local Toronto group has been gigging regularly between T.O. & Ottawa and have a just completed four track e.p. out. Their sound is a frothy hard rock home brew spiked with a mid-70's southern boogie sensibility.
The opener "Ain't No Friend Of Mine" alternates between darkly sung verses and a forceful chorus. "Hear Them Cry" is propelled forward by thumping tribal drumming then takes off at the end aided by some double time piano flourishes. Next up is "Neck Deep" which moves along at a brisk pace ?occasionally breaking into a funky groove before jumping back to a swift sprint to the finish line. Front man Brian Stephenson's muscular guitar playing is propped up by the rock solid foundation provided by the crack rhythm section.
Clocking in at just over eighteen minutes this not-so-little sampler has more value for your buck than many full length releases by major label bands.
That's just the new way of doing things for Old James. - This Side of the Tracks

Bio

Raised on heavy metal and distilled in rock n’ roll comes Toronto based Old James. A 4-piece guitar and piano driven rock group with slamming rhythms, deep groove and enough musical integrity to satisfy the neediest of the music elite.

Old James mixes an eclectic blend of hard pounding rock soothed with the bright sounds of piano and warm vocal harmonies. These musical chameleons are best described as a heavy retort to Lynyrd Skynyrd combined with 90’s grunge sensibilities. Their self titled, self-produced EP was released for free on the internet in June of 2012 as a musical celebration and an omen of musical discoveries to come.

Armed with melodies to open the ears, words to open the mind and a strong positive message to open the heart, Old James strive to challenge the current trends of the mainstream on their mission to save Rock ‘N Roll.
