I am a self taught singer/songwriter and performer. My interest in music began early. I grew up hearing my father sing classic tunes and my brother playing trumpet. A friend of my brothers, Mark Kaspersak played guitar in various bands, I would listen to them practice in the basement of his house. I've been pretty much surrounded by music my entire life. I started playing the trumpet in school band rehearsal at about age 11. My brother (Buddy) was studying music at Daemen college in Amherst NY at the time. Buddy Played the trumpet. At about age 13 my father William, who used to sing at the stage door downtown before I was born, bought me a guitar. It wasn't the easiest guitar to play, but I couldn't get enough of it. I transcribed rock music from vinyl, continually inching the needle back and forth until I copied all the notes as closely as possible. I did that for sometime. Then, I had practiced with various unknown rock bands and played out here and there. I attended college for micro-computer technology and took a few music history classes. During college I didn't get a chance to play very much. After college I took an interest in learning about music theory and then applying it to guitar. I borrowed some in depth books at the public library on the subject.
