Bio

Olsen Winter is a collaboration between Henrik Olsen (Copenhagen, Denmark) and Petra de Winter (the Hague, the Netherlands). They write songs together and send eachother their ideas and tracks via the internet. Once or twice a month they plan a studio session. Then Petra goes into the Mosound studio (Zoetermeer) from and with sound engineer Marcel van Ling, with Henrik on an internet connection in Copenhagen. Thats the moment that they glue and produce all the parts and tracks together into a song. No 800 km drive, no CO2, just working together via the internet. Henrik is guitarist and plays the bass, Petra is the singer. In 2012 they recorded the Forest, a new song. It became a quite orchestral and "filmish" song and it also needed a great drummer. Henrik invited the great and famous Danish drummer Gert Smedegaard to play the drums on this song and the result became fantastic. The drums were recorded near Hamlet's castle in the fantastic Focus Recording Studio in Danmark, by Hans Nielsen. The rest of the song is recorded and mastered by Marcel van Ling in his Mo Sound Studio in the Netherlands. The Forest is written, played and sung by Henrik Olsen and Petra de Winter and arranged and produced by Henrik Olsen, Petra de Winter and Marcel van Ling. In 2013 Olsen Winter composed and worked on yet another soundtrackish, monumental, orchestral piece, called "Two Boys." It's just ready, in the early spring of 2014. OW invited Giselle Bentvelsen (cello) and Marcel Peters ( acoustic , bowed double bass) to play along with the orchestra on that track, with a solo for Giselle too. Two Boys became a quite sad, melancholic song and orchestral work, slightly influenced by composers like Henryk Gorecki and soundartists like Brian Eno.
