"Record of the day"

We love it when we get a personal submission out of the blue from an unknown act, we stick it on and discover that it’s instantly likeable, hugely appealing and worthy of the widest attention. That’s exactly what’s happened with OMYO (Our Music, Your Opinion), a young Oxfordshire songwriting duo seemingly, on the evidence of this fine track, with that inherent knack and ear for being able to craft mainstream contemporary pop. William and Tom met in a pub last year and made a rather drunken bet to see if they could write a tune. Most of the songs that will form their debut album were written via Whatsapp videos as Tom finished uni and William travelled for work. They have just performed their first-ever gig on the New Look Stage at Wireless and are about to see their song Heaven featured in an upcoming ad campaign for the high street fashion chain. Our featured track is soulful, acoustic-based pop that's arrived already fully-formed and genuinely wouldn’t sound out of place on almost any hit-based radio station anywhere in the world right now. You'd better start chasing them. - record of the day

"Essentially Pop"

The debut single by OMYO, ‘Roam’, has their distinct blend of electronic dance style pop with a soulful R&B vocal that compliment each other perfectly. The song is upbeat and has a good mixture of changes and transitions to keep sounds fresh and interesting.
Not only does the new single, ‘Roam’, by OMYO have an extremely catchy sound, but another unreleased single by the duo, ‘Heaven’, was also recently used to advertise for the latest NewLook women’s wear campaign available to view here. - Essentially Pop

"BBC introducing"

These guys are on the crest of a wave. Their music, their look, their professionalism - OMYO are the complete package. What an incredible future these guys have together - BBC Introducing

Based in London, OMYO is the union of Tom McCorkell and William Edward. Tom handles lead vocals, while William is responsible for the music and backing vox. The name is an acronym for Our Music Your Opinion.

And my opinion, for what it’s worth, is that their music is excellent.

OMYO have been featured in the past on BBC Introducing and by Charlie Sloth on BBC Radio 1 Xtra. And it’s true that Daydreamers is a slice of acoustic and synth-inspired urban-pop that is utterly radio friendly and begging for airplay. The stirring tune builds and builds to a captivating climax, with Tom’s voice dripping with soul. Hopefully, the world will wake up soon to their talent. - Tom Robinson bbc 6 music/Fresh on the net

"Record of the week : The Sun"

Tropical beats, strident piano chords and some mean vocal harmonising between band mates Tom McCorkell and William Graydon. The perfect summer Anthem 4.5/5 - The Sun Newspaper

"Track of the week: The Sunday Mirror"

Feel good synth pop with a summer vibe, Lady should hit the big time for this duo. Already picked up by New Look for a marketing drive - Sunday Mirror News paper

OMYO are a London-based pop duo. They make sexy summertime pop music, and we think that you’re going to love them. This is their debut single: it’s called Lady, and it’s a sparse and catchy pop song that’s about to soundtrack a New Look advert. Enjoy:

4.4/5 - One on One music

After finding their sound in a mix of infectious acoustic and synth-inspired urban-pop, the band has gone on to play the UK festival circuit, kicking off with a set at Wireless Festival, and have been featured on by Charlie Sloth on BBC Radio 1 Xtra.

Their debut single ‘Lady’ is a delicious slice of tropical pop, an obvious addition to any summer soundtrack and perfect for September’s sweltering evenings. - The New LoFi

Still working on that hot first release.
