"Artist of the Day"

"The sax is one reason New Port Richey's On Carlton Row -- singer/guitarists Aaron Blake and Joe Roma, bassist Jacob Cook, drummer Zack Hale and saxophonist Henri de la Vega - could be compared to Dave Matthews Band or Phish. The noodly, meandering jazz-folk-fusion is a better one.

Blake and Roma, who work together at Publix, cowrite the band's music around riffs generated by Roma, and the classically trained band -- three members are current or former music students at the University of South Florida --

"Most recently we have been described as 'funky rockabilly,' though I still don't know how accurate that is," Roma said. "Aaron's and my goal was always to surround ourselves with amazing musicians, and we certainly have."

On Saturday night, check out On Carlton Row at an unconventional venue, Venom Custom Choppers and Grill, 7430 U.S. 19, New Port Richey. Free." - Tampa Bay Times

Bio

On Carlton Row is a Folk Rock Jam Band that formed back in 2007 with Joe Roma and Aaron Blake playing multiple venues around the Tampa Bay area as an Acoustic Duo. Soon after they wanted to expand their music and began adding the rest of a band by bringing in bass, drums, and a sax player. A brilliant mixture of funk, rock, rhythm, and blues On Carlton Row has always had a very unique but diverse mixture of music. Incorporating instruments like the mandolin, banjo, multiple saxophones, and EWI adds to this wonderful sound and turns the live shows into an event not easily forgotten. Continuing to gig around the west coast and having recently won the Ultimate Opening Act Semi-Finals at the Ritz Ybor and continuing on to be runner-up over all: On Carlton Row is a sound and experience all their own.
