Biography

One and Only is a song-writing project started by Ollie Davidson. Writing music since the age of 16, Ollie has finally come into his own, mixing his beautifully crafted songs with soul-stirring vocals to create a sound that is unique yet familiar. "I would be at a loss to compare Old Dog Music to any other band I have ever heard before; but then again, isn't that the kind of music one secretly longs to hear?" Mark Staudte - Nothesteast In-Tune Magazine

With a love for non-for-profits causes, Ollie Davidson co-formed his own NPO, Compassionista Productions, whose mission is to help raise awareness for other worthy causes and social issues by organizing benefits in the art and music community to help gain funds and exposure for these organizations. So far, Ollie has arranged or performed for benefits in Spain, San Francisco, Chicago and Madison to help the victims of the Tsunami, the Sudanese refugees, and the Gulf Coast hurricane victims. Ollie also produced a compilation of mostly Chicago musicians to benefit the victims of the Hurricanes. The CD is currently available and more information can be found at www.compassionista.org.

Ollie's music has appeared on NPR, Music 4 iPods, and most recently, his song "So Far Away" was included on the Brains and Braun Songwriters Collective.

Lyrics

Give It Up

Written By: Ollie Davidson

Lonely and it isn't fair
I believe we're something special
Lonely but I'm not scared

Finally I'm awakening
Looks like someone forgot to tell you
You only get a few good weeks
To hold
A love this good is rare
And now we must decide

I know where it is my friend
Look inside your heart it's beating
Hoping that it never ends

Find myself next to you
I believe we're something special
Knowing this gets me through
Each day
Is better than the last
And I promise that I'm

Never gonna give it up
No I'm
Never gonna give it up
I'd rather die
Than watch this body ripped in two
No I'm
Never gonna give it up

I've waited many days and weeks
Through all of this
And I will tell myself
That this is how it is
And how it should be
If I'm to carry on
And bring this message to you
That I've held so long...

I love you

Jimmy

He says it so quietly
no one can hear
"this is the day the world ends"
packs his red backpack to leave
and goes outside

no body notices at all they're
to envolved with the day
school dances, from queens and everything
that makes the grade

he thinks it's lonely
when no one's around
and no one will be here tonight

he waits for the bell to ring
quick turn around
raises his hand in the air
and says "I'm sorry"
this is the way it has to be
this is the way it ends

dad was never home
it was his job to be away
and to fight the criminals
that would get in his way
there's this box in my house
I think I'm gonna open it someday

he thinks it's lonely
when no one's around
and no one will be here tonight

he waits for the bell to ring
quick turn around
raises his hand in the air
and says "I'm sorry"
this is the way it has to be
this is the way it ends

5 years old and he's playing outside
G.I. Joes, all a lone for a while
all this time lies awake

fast forward some and now he's 16
TV, cigarettes and everything
everyone needs to be loved
not ignored all the time
open your eyes, it's happening
all the time

he waits for the bell to ring
quick turn around
raises his hand in the air
"I'm coming home"

this is the way
it has to be
this is the way it ends
