"One Tiger Down Debut EP Review"

One Tiger Down is an interesting phenomenon. There's a glitziness to their bluesy soul music that makes me think of neon lights at 3am. The vocals are effortlessly good - it's almost a bit distracting how good they are - and the tracks are arranged with the skill of seasoned jazz heads. The elements are relatively simple, but the way they're put together suggests that these guys are either classically trained or they know an absolute shitload about blues/soul/roots music. You just can't fake this kind of thing. They may not be operating in a genre that's particularly fasionable, but this EP should generate the band a big audience of discerning listeners who like intelligent roots music.

"One Tiger Down, Live Performance at Mojos Bar, North Fremantle"

The freshly unwrapped film clip opened One Tiger Down’s set before a relaxed and impressive set with strong lounge jazz vibes.
The wandering bass lines and groove driven drums set off the night wonderfully as punters tried to dance and generally chill out.
The band’s performance was not merely background music as they performed to the crowd and left more than a few wishing the set would go on longer.

"Bow & Arrow single review"

December 2009

One Tiger Down make an upbeat and memorable Perth pop sound with a soul - and bearing the hallmarks of the WA Academy of Performing Arts. Consisiting of a traditional four-piece line-up, with a little instrumnet swapping.
'Bow & Arrow' showcases Tim Bott's honest and clear vocals with a hint of Aussie accent that adds to the homegrown credibility. B-side 'Take What You Want' is a highlight. It's a piece of relaxation that calls on American classics like The Eagles, then updates, slows down and adds a groove. Lovely! - Drum Media - Daniel Parkinson

OTD has been making waves throughout the Perth music industry since 2008 when they released their self-titled debut EP to a string of sold-out shows. This Tiger was quickly seen as a roaring success as the EP soon sold out, and the follow up release of the film clip ‘Wise Yung Yu’ was included on the ‘Kiss My WAMi 09’ compilation.

Following numerous tours to the South West and a loyal following growing in Perth, OTD set their sights on the East Coast and toured to Melbourne in 2009. The band released the successful self-funded single ‘Bow and Arrow’ soon after; a recording which captured the hearts and minds of their fans and built on the reputation their debut EP had created.

The Year of the Tiger (2010) began with a bang for OTD with a stellar performance at the 2010 Southbound Festival. The year didn’t slow as the band prowled through Western Australia’s North West and South West, opened the West Coast Blues & Roots Festival at the Official Opening and headlined many high-profile local shows. The year finished on a high with OTD supporting big name national touring acts Lior and Matt Corby, to name a few.

OTD have spent the start of 2011 in the creative mode and are busily writing new material for their up coming second EP release. So keep your ear and eye on the Tiger for a sneak peak of the new tunes and release dates.
