Bio

With influences ranging from the hardest of cores to the poppest of punks, five starving musicians gathered in a dank garage with a common love for live music and a mutual desire to get the hell out of their hometown.

In November 2004, guitarists Matt Brooksher, 21, Kyle King, 19, and drummer Brad Stroud, 22, left the futility of their respective local bands with intent to form a band called One Weak Yesterday. Influenced by bands like Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, and Finch, the trio began an extensive search for the right bass player and vocalist. Their search landed them with countless enquiries from singers that just didn't fit.

Soon after, the search found 17-year old vocalist Nate Hackney at their doorstep. An admitted "pop-punk kid", Hackney tried his hand at the Used's "The Taste Of Ink", and was immediately accepted by the members of the band. With their lineup nearly complete, Brooksher, King, Stroud, and Hackney began auditioning bassists. Before playing a note, Newly Boyer, 21, seemed a perfect fit for the band.

As they began a tight schedule of hauling equipment across the hour-long drive between Boyer and Brooksher's houses, writing and performing songs in basements and garages, the young musicians fused to produce a sound all their own. Stroud's acrobatic skinsmanship, Boyer's solid and skilled bass lines, Brooksher and King's dueling guitar riffs, and Hackney's emotional lyrics and cry-for-help vocals, gelled miraculously to the biggest surprise of the quintet's young members. With a solid lineup and a rigorous practice schedule, the band continues to write songs and play shows in the Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma area, opening for such national acts as Victory Recording artists Hawthorne Heights.

With the combination of youth, talent, and uncommon determination on their sides, One Weak Yesterday is a musical force to be reckoned with.
