"Maximum Rock n Roll Review"

"Ireland doesn’t exactly have a legacy of ripping hardcore bands, so it was a real surprise to get this rip-roaring disc. Eight songs of explosive hardcore with super heavy production. In the same world as bands like ENDSTAND or even early REFUSED with swirling guitar leads and hoarse vocals, but adding the down-tuned heaviness of FROM ASHES RISE. This is one of the best European hardcore records I’ve heard in ages…..The lyrics are a little simplistic, but the music is hammering. Track this down." - na

"Punktastic.com review"

"... this Irish mob actually write some really impressive melodic hardcore in the vein of bands like Sick of it All. There's a raucous energy which so many bands cannot seem to capture on CD, while the songs whizz by in the blink of an eye..."

"Powerplay Magazine"

“…brings to mind Minor Threat, "This Just Might Be The Truth"-era Refused and Comeback Kid…..OF&C certainly seem to have what It takes to stand against the current surge of new hardcore bands coming through. This could well be their time." powerplay magazine - na

"Profane Existance 57 review"

"...a mixture of punk power with strong metallic overtones that pushes forward a strong rock feel. There is also a dissonant dirge that adds a moody feeling to the music. The guitarist doesn’t rely on the basic power chord treatment. He adds more by playing with the notes creating textures and emotions. The production values are spot on and that brings’ forth the music with the right amount of energy and clarity. "Profane Existance 57 - na

Bio

2005 – Only Fumes & Corpses are formed in
Galway, Ireland by Daniel, Momme, Thomas
and Bob. The band writes a 20 minute set and
play their first show at the Sliabh An Iarann
Festival on Sunday 7th Aug. Bob is too busy
to commit to the band as he is heavily involved
in the Shell To Sea campaign in Rossport.
Some shows are played with stand in bassist
Gavin.

2006– The band get a new permanent bass
player, Conor C. A short Irish tour in March
with Gasmask Terror (fr) ends with stabbings
at gigs, bins being set on fire and support
bands punching the crowd. With some new
songs and a taste for the road Fumes play 3
shows with Finnish band Endstand in early
May. At the end of the month the band record
5 songs at 6YO studios of which 4 will be on
the first demo. In June the band support Sick
Of It All in Belfast and the rest of the summer
is spent playing shows and festivals around
Ireland finishing with a support slot to
Leftover Crack. Only Fumes & Corpses invite
Polish band Przeciw to Ireland for a short tour
and also decide they need a second guitarist.
The band audition Conor H and the next day
the new line-up tours the country with Przeciw.
The 5 dates also coincide with the long
delayed release of the eponymously titled
demo. The rest of 2006 sees the band play
loads more shows including a short tour with
Ruiner (US) and Barntown Water Tastes Like
Blood as well as support slots to FKW
Cromags, Flipper and P.A.W.N.S...

2007– The first 6 months are spent writing
New songs and playing odd shows including
gigs with Capdown, Supersuckers, Oi Polloi,
Go It Alone, Auktion and Sonic Boom Six. In
February a cover of DRI’s “I don’t need
society” and an early version of Leach are
recorded at 6YO studio. In June the band
spend 3 days recording and mixing 8 songs for
their debut CD at the Hive Recording Studio
in Co. Wicklow. The band are also preparing
for their first UK and European tour which
kicks off in Galway on July 11th. “Read
What’s In Between” is released as the band
set off on the 21 date “In No Fit State” tour.
The band play shows in Ireland, England,
Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Poland
and Czech Republic including headline shows
and festival slots with many bands including
The Mingers, Przeciw, Whole In The Head,
Cops On Fire, Intro5pect, Set Your Goals,
Mojakka… The tour comes to a close with an
insane performance at Sliabh An Iarann
Festival where the band played their first show
two years earlier. The rest of the year sees
regular gigging to promote “Read what’s in
between” which is getting fantastic reviews
across Europe and also in the U.S. Canadian
label Dedication Records releases the original
demo recording of “Leaderless” on a 4 way
split 7” in October. Songs from the bands CD
also appear on various compilations.

2008– In early February Only Fumes &
Corpses head off for a short UK tour. The “No
Open Water” dates sees the band share the
stage with Karaktermoord (NL) for 4 shows as
well as Burning The Prospect, Gurkha and
loads more as the band and “roadie” Paul party
it up hard. Events on the trip see the band
become a house hold name on the Isle Of Man…
At the end of February the band invite The
Mingers and Los Mendozas over for a 4 day
tour of Ireland shortly after which the band
play support to Kidd Blunt on their 10 year
anniversary show and also 2 shows with MDC.
Between writing new songs for the next
release, Only Fumes & Corpses play shows
with Glassjaw, Comeback Kid, No Turning
Back and also at the Snottingham and
Drumacanoo Punx Picnics. At the end of July
The band will play shows in Finland including
the Puntala Rock Festival after which the band
celebrate their 100th gig and then play a
headline slot at the Mantua Festival.
Recordings for a split 7” with Whole In The
Head will happen in August before the band
play 3 Irish shows with Strike Anywhere…
