Bio

Jeff Tucker began his music career in New Orleans, a town where both opportunities and influences in the music world are plentiful - and musicians become "veterans" at an early age. Tucker is the singer-songwriter in On the Beach, and he plays guitar and harmonica. His songwriting features socially-relevant lyrics and encompasses a variety of musical dynamics - including elements of rock, pop, and country - while also referencing Americana, jazz, and Latin music.

Tucker is joined on stage by Jessica Stewart, an acclaimed pianist who earned a scholarship to Boston’s Berklee College of Music, and has performed jazz on stages in Jamaica, as well as performing on stages in this country with the Cleveland Opera On Tour. Jessica Stewart adds great depth to the dynamics of On the Beach, with her voice and virtuosity on piano and keyboards, flute, and mandolin. Kait Swanson's vocals have been a key element of the On the Beach sound since 2000. Her natural vocal quality is truly a gift, and she is a consistent audience favorite because of that gift and her knack winning over an audience with it. Mike VanDerver and Keith Roach been the rhythm that drives On the Beach since 2002. They provide consistent energy and exuberance to the band, and have been a constant in the band’s sound for well over 600 performances.

In 2005 Jeff Tucker & On the Beach celebrated their tenth consecutive year of performing over 150 shows per year. The band has independently released two CD’s of original music and in 2003, Tucker and company released “Freedom (is not free)”, a single dedicated to the men and women of our Armed Forces and their families. On the Beach has twice appeared live on the Mitch Albom Radio Show, performing for an ABC Radio network audience of 2.5 million listeners nationwide. The band’s performances reflect an impressive, entertaining combination of musical craftsmanship and the ability to appeal to audiences made up of different generations and varied musical tastes.
