Biography

The stellar guitar and vocal styles of GLENN SHERMAN & legendary guitar, piano and vocal styles of DAVE CATALANO make up the sound of "ON THE TRAIN TO PHILLY." Before joining forces years ago, like many talented musicians, they have had their share of experience within the ever changing music industry. Don't take my word for it though... just check out some of their amazing credits!

Some of Glenn Sherman's most notable experience has been the Jon Brown 70 Years Coming Acid Blues Records (EPK on youtube-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoDMRDOJ3ZA). He has collaborated with famed producer Tom Rothrock whose credits include Beck, Elliot Smith, James Blunt, The Toadies and many others. Glenn played guitar and co-wrote most songs on the record. He recorded Mr. Brown's vocals in Factory in Elizabeth NJ with a mobile recording set up. One of his songs ("30 days") , which I co-wrote and played guitar on, was featured in a Showtime movie called "Desert Saints." The album received heavy airplay in New York on WFUV and throughout the country.

He was also a member of the Tony Trischka Band-Bend signed to Rounder Records. He played guitar on the whole record and co-wrote 2 songs. Tony is very well known in the acoustic world. He’s most famous for venturing outside of traditional Banjo musical forms and being Bela Fleck’s main influence and banjo teacher. Glenn toured extensively around eastern US and Europe for 3 years with this band!

Adam Pascal-Civilian Shk Boom records
• Co-wrote whole album , played guitar and Co-produced this record. Adam became famous as one of the original male leads in the broadway show RENT. He also starred in the movie version. Played around NYC , some college gigs, several tv appearances (ABC’s The View, CBS’ Morning Show, WPIX’s Moring News.)

• Grow - unreleased album recorded and produced by Tom Rothrock and Rob Schnapf. They played a lot in NYC (Mercury Lounge, Limelight, Luna Lounge) and toured around the states.

He also played guitar for Roman Carter's album which was released in 2008.

DAVID CATALANO:
David was born somewhere on the planet earth. He has been involved in music ever since. Every human being that has come in contact with him knows he has a musical gift!!! If you know him... You never question him or his abilities.... He's that talented!!! And yeah, he's had his share of experience with the labels and collaborated with with amazing talent such as Todd Rundgren but I think even Todd has to be impressed with the musicality of On The Train To Philly!

Lyrics

PLEASE

Written By: Dave Catalano

VERSE 1

I see you’ve packed your things,
And placed them by the door.
All your books and figurines,
Boxed up so secure.

The dresser drawers that were yours,
are cleaned and emptied out.
Your clothes are gone,

RUMOR

Written By: Dave Catalano

VERSE 1

I heard a rumor about a friend of mine
They say he’s crazy and he lost his mind
he talks to God each day
and prays that things won’t stay the way they are.

I can’t imagine that my friend would be.
Taking vacation from reality.
I’d say he’s tired of seeing people act so selfishly.

CHORUS

You know how people will talk,
You know they’ll talk about anything at at all.
You know how people don’t care
If they’re speaking the truth or making any sense at all.

VERSE 2

My friend has mentioned that the time has come,
to change the way that we don’t get along.
I’d say he’s tired of seeing people act so selfishly.

CHORUS

THE BRIDGE

I cant imagine that my friend could see,
Something not obvious to you or me.
He seems to think that people couldn’t care,
And maybe he’s right.

VERSE 3

I heard a rumor about a friend of mine
They said he’s crazy and he lost his mind
He spoke to God today
and heard that things won’t stay the way they are.

STILL A MILLION MILES

Written By: Dave Catalano

I’m so bored and I’m alone
I’m traveling on the road
I feel I’d like to stop
And get something to eat.

Been driving such a long time
I’m feel I’m getting sleepy.
The white lines in the road.
Are hypnotizing me.

Streetlamp light is raining down
As I leave another town
That’s still a million miles from my home.

(Keep on rolling on) (repeat in a soft voice)

Driving through this amber grain
My sense of being’s getting strained,
The scenery’s monotony,
Is sedating me.
Driving through the Country’s heart,
Is numbing all my body parts,
I hope something will happen,
So I don’t fall asleep.

Open space is strange to me
I miss New York’s cacophony,
Of city streets and subways down below.
All these farms and cattle fields,
is something that is so surreal.
I’m still a million miles from my home

(Eight measures of music before next “B” part)

Streetlamp light is raining down
As I leave another town
That’s still a million miles from my home.

TUMOR

Written By: Dave Catalano

VERSE 1
B y the way have I told you that I don’t have time.
I’m so busy lately baby trying to lose my mind.
Been on the straight and narrow road for far too long.
I’m really trying hard to make myself go wrong.

VERSE 2
Don’t need to have a conversation with you at my expense.
I’m getting very angry with you, I ‘m really getting tense.
My behavior may be getting strange from the pain that’s in my head.
I’m thinking that you should go away before you wind up dead.

RELEASE

Oh, this throbbing pain has got me scared
I, feel like no one has ever cared.
Fire burning deep inside my brain……………

VERSE 3
Can you look into my angry eyes and see the damage that is there?
The headaches that I’ve been suffering from make me just not care.
My behavior’s getting very strange from the pain that’s in my head.
I hope there’s something that I can do, before I wake up dead

RELEASE

Oh, this throbbing pain has got me scared
I, feel like no one has ever cared.
Fire burning deep inside my brain……………

TURN THE WORLD

Written By: Dave Catalano & Glenn Sherman

VERSE:

I struggled with the hands of time
To find something I could call mine.
I wasted all that I did find

I know someday I will be gone,
And everything I did was wrong,
Time has passed me by.
I wish that I could live my life again.

CHORUS:

What could ever make me see,
The things that turn the world.
If I could only know,
I wouldn’t be so cold.

VERSE:

Regret is something I’ve contrived
To help my soul to stay alive,
Despite the pain I hold inside.

I see the lines upon my face,
A victim of the human race,
Time has passed me by.
I wish that I could live my life again.

CHORUS:

What could ever make me see,
The things that turn the world.
If I could only know,
I wouldn’t be so cold.

LIFE AFTER LIFE

Written By: Dave Catalano

I’ve this way before
This life and many more
Some I recall
But not them all, so vividly.

Each life I have is dear
But memories aren’t so clear
I’ve traveled a line
From the dawn of time, through eternity.

CHORUS

I’m certain that I don’t know,
How this could all be so.
Life after life again,
A circle that never ends.

Now that its time to leave,
This body that man conceived.
My soul is freed,
From humanity, until I come around again.

CHORUS

I’m certain that I don’t know,
How this could all be so.
Life after life again,
A circle that never ends.

The white light appears in space,
A choice once again I face.
Do I stay, and fade away?
Or do I go back again?

KEEPING IT SIMPLE

Written By: Dave Catalano

4 little ounces of vodka would do,
add in three olives and a splash of vermouth
some one to shake it
a stir just won’t do,
When I’m done drinking
I’ll have time for you,
I don’t like to complicate the things that I do,
path of least resistance is the way to get through,
To this point so simply put is where I am at
( Keeping it simple…….)

A bagel at breakfast, is more than I need
Salad at lunch time is all that I eat
Chicken for dinner with maybe some beets
Good conversation with company I keep….
I don’t like to complicate the things that I do,
path of least resistance is the way to get through,
To this point so simply put is where I am at
( Keeping it simple…….)
