Bio

Gerardo Balestrieri was born in Remscheid in June 1971. Currently living in Venice,
He studied composition at Oriental University of Naples
Collaborations include a live-sound-track of Murnau's Nosferatu and with Daniele Sepe, Bebo Storti , Le Theatre de la Ville de Paris…
As a multi-instrumentalist, (piano-accordeon-baglamas-cumbus-darbuka-kamantchè -glockenspiel-ecc.) he has performed in Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Germany and Swisse
In 1999 Balestrieri founded "Les travailleurs de la Nuit" (with an ever-changing cast of characters), writes and recordd "Anachronistic Dream of a Disadapted of the century XXI" a concept-album tribute to Alexander Marius Jacob, gentleman and sarcastic thief of old.
In 2000 and 2005 Balestrieri was invited to Premio Tenco and he played sessions with Stefano Bollani, Ellade Bandini, Mauro Pagani, Francesco Guccini and others
.He won International Pelago Festival Buskers '96-Risonanze 2004- Mantova Musica Festival 2006- Sciamano Showman festival 2006.
The first album "I nasi buffi e la scittura musicale" (Musica & Teste-Carta da musica-Egea) is considered the Second First Opera of 2007 and Balestrieri is invited for the third time to Premio Tenco.
In "Venice Carnival 2008" he held his cd release party In Theathre Fondamenta Nuove and was featured on Sky TV in February of 2007.
Between July and August 2008, he recorded with Arif Azerturk Ensemble of Istanbul " A Neapolitan Turk in Venice" , an album which for the first time presented Neapolitan songs in the Ottoman style, with musicians and instruments of Asia Minor.
He is currently at work on his third album, " Songs at Crossroads (al crocicchio)” .
With a deep voice he sings poetic, ironic, bizzare, sarcastic lyrics in italian, greek, french,,napolitain and english… representing the rhythms and music gypsy Jazz and France pop, swing , Roma and turkishsensual-power ,.Gerardo Balestrieri loves to jokes with words without forget rhythm and dance
