Operation 81

Operation 81 began three years ago as a group called Elucite, started by Bassist, Jim Mauthe, and lead Guitarist, Derek Holley. The band grew and soon recorded its first ever album titled, Deeper than you imagine. Unfortunately the band began to have conflicts and soon after the recording lost its Rhythm Guitarist, and Drummer, having never launched their album. A short time after the split, the former Elucite adopted Drummer, Chris Turke. The band ‘Core’ began practicing together in May 2007 and soon discovered that they were moving in a new direction. Soon, after many discussions the group decided to cut their losses and drop Elucite, to reform as a completely new outfit. Since its conception Operation 81 have ventured to explore new avenues in music, discovering and crossing, classic rock with a new metal feel. A few months passed before a name came up, Operation 81, and it stuck. With a solid ‘Core’ Op 81 began its search for a Rhythm Guitarist and found it in Chris Anklam. The crew plays covers such as Killswitch Engage’s, Holy Diver, a Dio cover; Pantera’s, Cowboys from Hell, as well as, Metallica’s, Sad but True. The guys have several originals the best of which are With You, a classic hard rock rhythm with vintage lyrics; Judgment, a take back to old school with a solid driving pulse and dramatic climax; Solders Fait, a new school jam with up beat flow and pounding pulse making it hard to not throw the horns! The band is a well balanced cross between American Rock and Metal resulting in what they call good old Dirty American Rock! Operation 81 is a new and innovative sound on a live stage that will make anyone want to SHUT UP AND ROCK!!!!
