Oppose

Oppose grew up in Norfolk, VA the third son to a proud mother and father. Having experienced a lot of love throughout his younger years, O's life started to change with the death of his grandparents. First his two grandfathers and then the closest and most painful death in his family, his grandmother. No longer raised by her watchful eye, O began to wander and drift through life. Many times walking in and out of dangerous situations, street life, drugs, etc. all of which he talk to his closest friend about. Music. Writing rhymes since before he was a teenager, O developed a sacred trust and bond with music. Writing from his heart and learning how to use music to get things off his chest and how music allowed people to get things off of their minds. It became a bond that he cherishes to this day. Losing one of his best friends (Damian) in college to suicide, "O" began to question life and the answers that he knew were true. This quest, this journey led him to another best friend, Jesus Christ. Throughout his life he struggled with how far would God call him to go. As he struggled, as he laid on his bed drunk and alone he knew that life had much more to offer. The next day his mother told him, "Son, don't worry about the destination, don't worry about what you think God has called you to be. He desires righteous businessmen, businesswomen, he desires righteous teachers, lawyers, etc. just enjoy the journey, just enjoy the journey". Ever since then that's all he's tried to remember to do, Enjoy the Journey. He now invites you to come along.

ARTIST BIO:
Osaze “Oppose” Murray is a native of Norfolk, VA but he spent the last six to eight years of his life living in Washington, DC and Wynnewood, PA (right outside of West Phila.). While living in DC he attended Howard University and it was there that God’s grace quickened his heart, leading “O” to rededicate his life to Jesus. Upon graduation he remained in the DC area working with a campus/urban ministry as a missionary for two years. Central to his understanding of the hip hop ministry is the need to gently share with people the love of Christ from a heart that has been enlightened by the word. Thus, while at Howard “O” entered into University talent shows and in the annual Verbal Armageddon Hip-Hop emcee battle hoping to be a light. Each time God‘s grace allowed him to share the words of Jesus with almost 300 or more students who came to hear “the norm”, but instead heard about the living Savior. Oppose has been featured on the college radio station “spitting a freestyle” and on one of the school’s popular d.j.’s. mixtapes as the only Christian emcee. Back at home in Virginia he’s co-laboured on a collabo song that has received weekly rotation on the Gospel morning show on 103 Jamz as well as being a part of the 1st Norfolk Praise Project. Currently O is scheduled to minister in this year’s Rap Fest and Fla.vor Fest.
Finishing his educational pursuits at Palmer Theological Seminary, brother O, his wife and newly born daughter are striving for the faithfulness that God has called them in their walk with God, with each other, and laboring with the youth of West Philadelphia as Monumental Baptist Church’s youth minister. To God be the glory.

Brief Ministerial Statement:
I love rhyming. I love emceeing. I’ve been doing it since my older brother introduced me to it, but it wasn’t until my heart changed that I loved rhyming for God. It’s one of the things I love to do.
When I look at writing a song, doing an album or ministering live- my objective is to bring people into the presence of God. My heart’s desire is to contribute something that God would have people to hear thus honoring Him for the opportunity. Every opportunity God gives is a time to share an offering.
