"Opposite the Satellite-2011 Blind Spot Music Review"

Throughout the track "Low", Joseph Bloomquest's vocals are reminiscent of 90's Rock group Staind's lead vocalist Aaron Lewis.[Joseph] Bloomquest delivers an emotional and powerful vocal range... During the beginning of 2011, Opposite the Satellite have seen a rapid increase in musical interest of fans and listeners around the Country. This sparked interest has caused the band to receive several award nominations and accolades. In February of 2011, Opposite the Satellite was chosen as "Local Artist of the Month" by Virginia Local Music. More recently, the band also became a contender for the 2011 Los Angeles Independent Music Awards. Opposite the Satellite's highly-anticipated full-length debut album, titled The Science of Falling, is scheduled to be available for purchase in November of 2011. This album is already gaining publicity from fans and listeners, as people are anxiously waiting to hear the band deliver more noteworthy material.

"Opposite The Satellite-Blind Spot E.P."

Featuring brothers Joseph (vocals, guitars) and Andrew Bloomquest (guitar) the band is backed by Todd Burton on drums and Mitchell Ball on bass. Schiavone McGee (Formally of Fighting Gravity) provides back on the record. The E.P. is currently being remixed by Beau Hill (co-founder of Interscope Records) and his remix of the song "Low" has been made public... Lead by the emotionally charged vocals of Joseph Bloomquest "Low" has single written all over it... "Synopsis" can only be described as alt/pop/thrash. And not bubbly pop mind you. More like dark and modern intelligent pop... Progressive rock gives way to blistering metal as the band dissects modern rock with the skill of surgeons... - Opposite The Satellite-Blind Spot E.P.Andy Davis

"5 Star Band!!!!!"

Soulful, melodic, and honest, Opposite the Satellite's EP is an outstanding album that you will find yourself playing over and over again. This is a small-town band with the potential to break BIG. "Bleed Through" and "Low" are signature songs on this great album. Recommended without reservation or condition!

"Spiral Art Collaborative"

Opposite The Satellite’s new E.P., “Blind Spot”, is a refreshing surprise on the Richmond music scene… The album actually takes me aback, and I don’t say that lightly… This album has smart lyrics along with amazing orchestration… The vocals are strong (backed by Schiavone McGee – Formally of Fighting Gravity)… And while recalling A Perfect Circle, or Tool, they stand on their own. The clean vocals and sweetness of the delivery belie the seriousness of the content. At times, Joseph can sound like a teenager burning black candles at midnight… I think this bears repeated listening… “Blind Spot” is a minor-chord missive for the disaffected and disenfranchised – well worth the time. - Tom Dolland

"Carol's Butterflies Radio Blog All Indie, All the Time"

Opposite the Satellite, an indie band out of Virginia, has a style that mixes the sounds of southern rockers Lynard Skynard and the nu metal sound of the band KORN. Music doesn’t drive who OTS are. Who they are drives the music. - Carol Riordan

"Opposite The Satellite – Guests on Twitter Tuesday Live 15th February 2011"

Wow what a nice bunch of guys from Opposite the Satellite we had joining Mark and myself on the live show this week – Todd, Joseph and Andrew, so lovely to meet you all!

As usual it was a very informal get together. Mark of course had to start off by asking the inevitable question as to how they came up with the band’s name…Its better if I let them explain in their own words:

"VLM’s “Local Artist of the Month”"

Virginia Local Music would also like to add that internet radio station, “Butterflies Radio” nominated their song “Low” for its “Best of Butterflies Radio EP” award. OTS is believed to be the only “Virginia” band in the running, so be sure to show your support by voting for the song “Low” at http://www.butterfliesradio.com/vote.php!

. . . In my conclusion, this band is destined for mainstream radio. My gut tells me there’s a major record label waiting for them just around the bend. Not only do they have the “musical qualities” of rock stardom – they also have the right attitude for the business. I’m honored to have worked with them, and wish nothing but the best of luck in their bright future.

They have our vote!!! - Angela Vicik

"Support Kick Ass Music"

...Opposite the Satellite music ranges from smooth melodic rock to a slightly heavier crunch when the song beckons for it. ‘Blind Spot’ is one of the highlights of the album that opens with a heavy punch and then settles into a slower groove that builds to a dramatic climax. ‘Low’ proves to be one song that seems destined to see radio airplay on rock radio stations. The song blends passionate vocals intertwined with a clean melody that culminate in a heavy and explosive emotional chorus! ‘Synopsis’ is the heaviest of the tracks on this LP with its driving guitar and bombastic rhythm work demonstrating elements of thrash metal.
In summary, this album is melodic, powerful and above all, it Kicks Ass! A brilliant and welcome change to the today’s music and I look forward to hearing more from these guys!!... - Tim Lester

Bio

Opposite The Satellite~ This is not just simply what we do. This is what courses through our veins and sees though our eyes. As we stand here opposite the satellites, we wonder, can anyone really even see at all? We are interested in music, in politics, and in people. Quite possibly to satisfy our own thirst for interaction, we are interested in relating to anyone who appreciates the simplistic and benevolent nature of life, anyone who feels, anyone who is confused, anyone who is trying, anyone who relates to more than just their own pinpoint in time, anyone who tries to see, and anyone who questions authority: Breaking the rules for the greater good is the highest level of moral reasoning.
