"Just Another Fairytale: Orange Maplewood’s debut an asset to the Dutch music scene"

May 16, 2014 - Due to the arrival of record label Lighttown Fidelity (located in Eindhoven, The Netherlands) - the record label was partly the reason why Eindhoven was proclaimed Rock City of 2013 by Dutch music blog Counter Culture - a wave of strong, groovy and fuzzy ‘home
grown’ guitar music was born. Last year, people were already able to enjoy bands like Candybar Planet and Komatsu; two rock bands that have been around for a while now. This year though, it’s time for a newcomer: Orange Maplewood.

Fairytales do come true

Orange Maplewood’s debut album Just Another Fairytale has finally become a reality after years of musical tinkering, writing and countless try-outs. The record counts ten tracks, of which we already got a first impression in February 2014 with Superdestroyer.

Powerhouses

The Herman Brood Academy alumni aren’t making a secret of their musical inspiration; which is Grunge. And that’s precisely where their strength lies. Especially powerhouses like Through The Mountain, Lilly Of The Valley (has a huge White Limo vibe) and Superdestroyer confirm this.

Asset to Dutch music scene

A debut album can make or break you as a band. Orange Maplewood shows with the launch of Just Another Fairytale that it has a great deal of talent, but also the potential to grow from
an asset into an established name in the Dutch music scene. - Haiko Peters

"Orange Maplewood’s Grunge tale"

May 12, 2014 - Orange Maplewood was one of Oranjepop’s (a festival located in Nijmegen, The Netherlands) shining stars. But the band makes an even better impression on a small indoor stage, where the sound pressure is higher and the crowd is covered in sweat.

These guys know how to work hard and understand you have to do this for your music! Tonight, Orange Maplewood celebrates the birth or their debut album Just Another Fairytale.

The record is full of dynamic rock songs, with witticism toward punk, stoner and grunge. You guys play good, very good. The rough rock, including the Beatle-esque dual vocals, is damn fine. Sometimes tending to The Posies, other times to Nirvana. But in the end the band has it’s own identity. Tonight you have shown what you’re capable of. Good songs, brought with pleasure and conviction, and strong (individual) play during a fantastic record presentation. The festival performance two weeks ago is only but a lingering shadow in the
back of our minds after this evening. No fairy tales, but reality! - Eelco Van Eldijk

"Orange Maplewood can play, and they know it"

It might not be the most popular band of Valkhof Festival (located in Nijmegen, the Netherlands), but in a few years Orange Maplewood will be high in demand by many a festival. Today, the band showed a good mix of heavy music and guitar solos, combined with the front man’s smooth voice: a killer combination.

THE ACT
Orange Maplewood is on the move. The tour started in Belgium (May 2014) and ended in Arnhem, the Netherlands (April 2014) with the album release of Just Another Fairytale. Afterwards, Alec Todd officially replaced Gerben Bielderman on the bass.

THE MOMENT
This band knows what it can do: play well. This is noticeable several times during the performance. There are a lot of guitar solos, and it may sound as a bit too much, but it's actually not. It fits with the rest and adds something extra to the heavy music and the front man’s voice.

Orange Maplewood is bursting with energy. This is especially clear after the third song, when the guys start to play an instrumental piece and are sweating profusely. Straight afterwards,
they play a quiet song. It seems the band needs a short rest.

Really good show and really nice music. These guys know how to rock! - Famke Bergmans
