"Letter of Recommendation (Germany)"

Through your ministry, you brought a great blessing to the Baumholder
Military Community by expressing the wonder of God’s word and the
abundance of God’s grace—grace like rain-- through your inspirational
performance and meaningful music. The spiritual lives of our community,
who were at the time of your performance experiencing separation from
their loved ones who were deployed to Iraq in support of the Global War
on Terrorism, were encouraged and up lifted.

May God continue to bless you and your future endeavors.

- Army Garrison, Baumbolder Germany Lieutenant Colonel Woodberry

"Letter of Recommendation (Germany)"

We were blessed beyond measure having Ordinary Man in our U.S. Army
congregation as they toured Germany. They brought to us an uplifting
Christian concert at a time when our chapel attenders needed it most.
Ours was a deployed community with numerous young spouses separated
from
their Soldiers as they were fighting our nation's war on terrorism.
Ordinary Man ministered effectively exalting the Lord Jesus through
their music medium, being sensitive to the military families by
renewing
their trust in the Lord with a contemporary format. Each band member
reflected the love of our Lord through their God given talents. Given
the opportunity again, I would eagerly seek their service in any church
environment.

"Letter of Endorsement"

Greetings to Ordinary Man,
Thank you for the ministry that you do. It has help me in so many ways. You guys are doing great work for God's kingdom.

One song that has been nothing but a blessing to me is "Love Came Down". That song, and a lot of prayer saved my marriage. My wife and I came real close to a divorce. The song, "Love Came Down" help me to realize that I had to let God's love come into my life again and help me. My wife and I are back together and are doing a lot better. We take things one day at a time. So really, I wanted to let you guys know that the ministry that you are doing has touched my life in so many ways.

Thank you for all you do.

In Christian Love,

Bio

Ordinary Man started in January of 2004 under the name of Gideon’s Melody. In the last three and a half years the group has changed its name, several of its members and its style of music to become a much more mature group of passionate called individuals.Eric Horton, Randy Norman and Trey Rogers now comprise the group that is striving to do what God has called them to do.

As OM travels to play there is one thing on their hearts. They have a desire to create an atmosphere of worship that ushers in the God that inhabits our praise. It is through the spirit that yokes are broken and as the guys play it is their hope to turn everyday venues into a house of refuge and healing. To see people changed and not just touched. They want to see the music as a conduit for the Lord to speak and bring the weary, the hungry and the heavy laden to him for rest.

God has blessed OM through the good and the hard times. The guys in the group have completed several EP projects of their own original songs at various studios in Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia. The group has also had the privilege of playing at different venues across the Southeast. From concerts at large and small church venues to leading worship on college campuses the band has had the opportunity to share their faith and the gospel to a much diversified group of people. The 2006 year proved to be a big year for the band. Starting in the Spring of that year the band’s song “Love Came Down” competed and won four straight weeks on Atlanta’s Christian radio station J93.3. Also in the Spring the band was selected as one of fifty bands across the United States to travel to Nashville to compete in the final stages of Band With A Mission for Provident Records. In the summer of 2006 Ordinary Man was afforded the opportunity to travel to Germany for a two week tour of playing for our United States troops. While playing for the troops and their families the band was humbled to see how God could use them to touch the lives of their neighbors who lived so far away. Upon returning from overseas the guys were selected to compete at the Atlanta Fest music festivities at Six Flags over Georgia in Atlanta. In July of ’06 Ordinary Man represented Atlanta Based restaurant concept franchisors Raving Brands at the 2006 Atlanta Peachtree Road Race. To cap off the year they were chosen by the Atlanta based concept, Chick-fil-A to play at their New Years Eve celebration to ring in the new year. At present, Ordinary man is pushing forward to do more for more people. They are looking for opportunity and open doors so God will light their path and give them the courage to know that past their shortcomings, He has and will equip them to do what he has called them to do. Their goal is to touch people’s lives with music so Christ can change them with Grace. They look to tour in 2008 and know that their days ahead are challenged to go as Ordinary Men to do the work of Christ and point people to an extraordinary God.

PERSONAL BIOS

Eric grew up in the church and in music…to him, these two things really seemed to be synonymous, you couldn’t have one without the other. From the high school jazz and symphonic bands to the church orchestra Eric found his love for music playing the trumpet for over 20 years. While attending Mt. Paran Church of God in Atlanta for seventeen years he began to sing in the youth choir and fell in love with groups like Petra, Truth and Newsong. He was moved by the music he heard and began to get a taste of what he really wanted to do. He sang day and night wherever he was. It became a passion of his and he felt a release of his emotions as he began to write songs out of life circumstances. Feeling called to sing, Eric sought God in prayer and fasting to know for sure about God’s call on his life to sing in ministry. At the age of nineteen Eric was married to Candace Ross who began to support him in his endeavors to write, sing and to follow God wherever he may lead. Through the early years of marriage and two children, Eric began to write out of the hardships of life in marriage, finances and being a husband and father. Candace also began to learn how to deal with the pressures of their life together and both Eric and Candace began to understand that their trials were to be used as part of a purification process to prepare them for a ministry that God was calling them to be a part of. In the first part of 2004 Eric was asked to be part of a band named Gideon’s Melody comprised of former guitarist for Jubal’s Kin, Rich Day and former drummer for Casting Crowns, Rob Cervantes. They started playing wherever they could for free just for the love of the ministry and for being part of God’s unfolding plan. The band had its ups and downs as it strived to stay on track for what God had in store. Eric, now with his third child and in his twelfth year of marriage has continued on with the band as it has changed considerably and moves forward to do the o
