"The one and only"

As sunday evening turns into night, the Bordurian party band Orkestar Bordurka climbs onto Kaustinen's festival stage. The six young and skillful musicians made the audience sing and dance to their imaginary Bordurian folk music. The oriental atmosphere was created by cannons, flags and fireworks. - Keski-Pohjanmaa

"The party band in the spirit of Tintin"

Orkestar Bordurka performs music from the imaginary land of Borduria. They have built a reputation of a wild party band. At their album release gig in Balkan Fever-club the audience partied like crazy. Lately, Balkanese music has become an underground phenomena in Helsinki. - Helsingin sanomat

Orkestar Bordurka

Bringing only the finest Bordurian folklore to your festival – Extravagant parti-muzika from the uncharted mountainous regions of Borduria!

Orkestar Bordurka was set up in 2004 by a group of leading Finnish folk musicians to provide the music for a circus show in Helsinki. After two Winter Circus productions (2004 & 2006), 150 performances, 50,000 audience members, three CDs and various gigs all over Finland Orkestar Bordurka is guaranteed to be entertaining!

The band likes to call their music ,Bordurian, after the evil dictatorship in Tintin comics - their music, like Borduria, is definitely from somewhere in Eastern Europe, but also invented. It is imagined folklore, tradition with a twist. With the aim to please and get people on the dance floor.

Orkestar Bordurka consists of top musicians from the Finnish folk music scene, also well known from other ensembles including Tsuumi Sound System, Spontaani Vire, Hereä, Suo and Johanna Juhola Reaktori. The band has released three CDs, the latest in December 2009.
