Bio

Orlando Parham

Orlando Parham was born on September 2, 1958 and raised in Oxford, Mississippi. At the young age of 7, he became interested in playing the piano by listening to his mother play traditional hymns.

At the age of 9, Orlando began to play the conga drums with a local group called the Soul Children. Playing with this group led to learning to play the drums and bass guitar. After learning to play the drums and guitar, he joined a local gospel quartet group called the Bonner Singers. Playing the bass led to singing background vocals with the group. After several years of performing with the Bonner Singers, he recorded tracks on their fist single entitled “You Can’t Take Jesus away”.

From 1974 to 1976, Orlando attended Oxford High School where he learned to play the tuba. He received second chair status at the Northeast Mississippi Band Clinic his senior year and was the drum section captain in his high school band. In 1976, Mr. Parham entered the University of Mississippi where he studied music education/percussion. This led to learning to play several other instruments including the violin, trombone, flute, etc.

In 1976, he became the Minister of Music at west Springhill MB Church in Oxford, where he is currently serving. He is also Minister of Music at South Hopewell MB Church in Taylor, MS.

In the year 2000, he became a member of two local groups called the Fellowship Project and The Voices of North Mississippi. The Fellowship Project recorded a CD in 2001. Orlando Played the bass guitar tracks and sings his original song entitled “He’s On Time”.

Mr. Parham became Music/Fine Arts teacher at Holy Family Elementary School in Holly Springs, Mississippi where he has continued his music ministry.

Minister Orlando Parham has a God-given ability to hear the flow of the message that the Holy Spirit is dictating and create a musical mood that is inspirational and commanding of your attention. His background vocals are rich in tone with a vibrant melodious unity. He loves making music for the Lord and the Lord's people!
