Bio
Orphan Andies formed in May 2012 through the eyes of Andrew Sholudko, a singer/songwriter of over a decade. After meeting up with drummer Andrew Dorr, he decided to reach out to an old college friend, Matt Palmer.
Andrew S. and Matt had played open mics together in college at the University of Connecticut (where Andrew Dorr had also attended), where Matt had also sang in A Cappella group the UConn Conn-Men.
Drawing from a vast pool of influences such as the Who, Dispatch, Ben Harper and Steely Dan, Orphan Andies try to channel rock, pop and soul to what is often an acoustic/electric slate that is driven by the precise and nuanced playing of Dorr. They aren't afraid to try different sounds, which is evidenced by listening to the balladry of 'Radiator', to the rumbler that is 'Let the Light In'.
Their live act shows that these three were meant to play together, often times switching instruments to give contrast between the songwriting styles of Palmer and Sholudko.
