Orquestra Paulistana de Viola Caipira-OPVC
(Brazilian Ten Strings Guitar Orchestra)
From São Paulo – Brasil

Since 10/29/1997, date of its foundation, the OPVC is crossing borders and delighting the crowds when playing in the ten string guitar, as well as the expected classics of the hillbilly music, what has really characterized and differentiated it from the others similar orchestras: creative and unusual arrangements of the erudite music, Brazilian popular music ( MPB ) and world music.
Most of these concerts have the whole orchestra playing. The show usually has an average duration of 2 hours and has a characteristic intimate repertory, covering, besides the traditional classics of the hillbilly music, amazing musical arrangements of the classical music, MPB and world music, all of them adapted to the ten string guitar.

The concerts occur with a number of members depending on the space available ( 10 to 45 musicians ). The repertoire covered in order to promote integration and active participation of the audience is composed of parts extremely popular and well known, ranging from the hillbilly music to the MPB music.
After 12 years cruising the roads and the shortcuts of our immense Brazil, the OPVC work came to touch the european taste for good music performed with the ten string guitar: From 2010 April 30 to May 21, the OPVC was in Portugal, in his first international tour. We were settled down in the city of Coimbra and from there we left for the concerts, invitated by our brother country.
