Oscar are a 3 piece rock band from Sydney, formed in 2003 when Rick Hopkins (Vox/Guitar) was looking for comrades to rock up his pop/folk influenced acoustic material. Enter Marcus Croker on Drums and Matt Ball on Bass/Vox, and Oscar was born.
In the last few years we have played hundreds of gigs at venues across Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle including The Annandale, The Hopetoun, Manly Fishos, The Old Manly Boatshed, Oxford Tavern (The Gong), The Fitzroy (Windsor), the Sando and the Excelsior.
In August 2008, we won the “How the West Was Won” band competition, being selected out of a line up of some 32 bands by a panel of genuinely independent judges from within the music industry.
We pride ourselves on playing 100% original material – an infectious, eclectic range from mellow, acoustic harmonies through to punchy electric rock.
We are looking to expand our gigging to cover a wider field and hopefully gain some festival slots.
We are also desperately looking for management and a distribution deal for our completed album which can be sampled at www.myspace.com/spaceoscar
