"Oslo Hits the Road for West Coast Tour to Launch New EP!!"

For those of you who know Oslo-- going back to 2005, you are in for a treat. If you don't know about Oslo, then it's even better because you get to hear them - LA Story

"Interview: OSLO"

Oslo is an L.A. band with roots in the Bay Area, where founding members Mattia Borrani and Kerry Wayne James first met. Contributing writer Ryan Orvis spoke with Kerry as he geared up for a tour up & down the West Coast, including a show at Bottom of the Hill in SF tonight. Oslo (Debut) 2005
The Rise and Fall of Love and Hate (2007)
High Mountain Sessions Volume 1 (2011)

Since the early days, OSLO’s core members, Mattia Borrani (bass) and Kerry Wayne James (vocals), have made it a healthy habit to create dark and brooding music that belies the duo’s California roots. And their new release, High Mountain Sessions Vol. 1 (6/28 digital release) is no exception. Imagine rich, textured compositions replete with melodic charm and devastating lyrics, by turns narcotically-numbed and danceable, all woven together with top notch production. It’s a unique sound with the contemporary kick in the gut of band like Arctic Monkeys, Muse, and Placebo, while recalling darker UK post-punk bands including the Cure, Comsat Angels, and the Sound.

After releasing a self-titled debut album that garnered intense buzz from Rolling Stone Magazine, Billboard, Music Edge, and the Los Angeles Times, which named Oslo one of the top 10 bands to download in 2006, in 2007, OSLO released the Rise and Fall of Love and Hate. Co-produced by Grammy nominated engineer Ryan Hewitt (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mickey P (Beck, Peaches), and Interpol’s drummer Sam Fogarino, their second studio release resulted in a well deserved studio deal with SONGS Music Publishing and consequent licensing placements in independent films and TV shows including CSI NY.

Now, after taking time off from recording to focus on their live act, OSLO have returned with High Mountain Sessions Vol. 1, which will soon be followed by a fall release of the companion High Mountain Sessions Vol. 2. Clearly, these California lads with a penchant for music for rainy days (even summer rain) have been busy. And as usual, they’ve got friends in high places interested in helping out. For example, “Fever” finds itself gloriously remixed by Interpol’s Sam Fog. And the opening track, “Superstar” as reimagined by Frightened Rabbit’s Andy Monaghan takes on a killer electro sheen that would make the track quite at home juxtaposed with any minimalist remix by the likes of Jamie xx.
