"Artist Review"

"With a smokin’ female vocalist, a variety of blending styles, and lyrics with depth—only birds with their heads in the sand wouldn’t compute comparisons between Ostrich Head and the Black Eyed Peas. But c’mon—the Black Eyed Peas, one of the better—if overblown—mainstream hip-hop ensembles alive today? It’s not as outlandish as it sounds."-Aug, 31st 2006, The Monterey Weekly - Monterey Weekly

Bio

In 1996 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground.... Shit, wait..that's the A-Team. We can't take credit for that. So.. This is Ostrich Head. A 5 man collective of oddly talented music makers. Emcee's Calmentz, Nowonder, & Loreaxe paint the sunrise on the backdrop provided by DJ's Mes-E-Recspin and Waxbuckler. Their magical spinning music plates guide the groove and help to propel Ostrich Head beyond the realm of human normality. Known for their quick wit and impressive ability to make your money disappear, Ostrich Head roams the land playing their incomparable brand of hip hop to the teeming masses. Not one's to take themselves too seriously, (nor too lightly) Ostrich Head strives to find the middle ground without making unlistenable emo art rap or make a joke of hip hop music and culture. So do yourself a favor....hell do Ostrich Head a favor and take your tired ass to an Ohead show and have some fun. Maybe buy a shirt or CD..even better buy one of their cool ass mouse pads.

They have been tearing up L.A. clubs like the House of Blues, The Knitting Factory, Key Club, Viper Room, among others, and the group has quickly come to be considered one of L.A.s premiere Hip Hop collectives. They’ve performed with Lupe Fiasco, Kool Keith, Old Dirty Bastard, Aceyalone, Lyrics Born, Dub Cat, Awol One, 2Mex, The Alkoholics, Jimmy Cliff, Sir Mix-a-lot and Digital Underground to name a few and have toured across the U.S. & Europe.

They’ve released underground singles and been featured on mixed tapes as well as commercials and independent film soundtracks. They were showcased on the video game Tiger Woods PGA Golf 2004 and wrote the theme song for the 2005 skid row documentary, Life In A Basket. Music Connection magazine placed them in its Hot 100 Unsigned Bands of 2005, 2006 and 2007.

From a chance run-in at a Monterey, CA freestyle battle to the 5-piece collective that is currently rocking the L.A. scene, Ostrichhead is the sum of all its parts.

As Ostrichhead moves forward with plans take over the planet, the band continues to build their underground appeal throughout the L.A. and San Francisco Bay area as well as the hunt for a major label deal. Constantly progressing and evolving, Ostrich Head always stays one step ohead of the pack. Now, give them stuff.
