"Jim Casteneda, Woodrush"

Thank you, Ben. Didn't get to tell you after the gig Saturday, but I loved the song you played on keys.. Nice. I'd be totally in for sharing the stage with you guys again. It was good fun. Maybe we could find a good place to play with Woodrush, too. - Facebook

Bio

Oterra delivers focused, honest, uplifting performances, encouraging their audiences to lay their guard down and get lost in the music.

Playing saxophone as a child, Ben was also drawn to piano and guitar. Self taught, he learned songs from favorite artists, but soon began to write his own. Using songwriting and music to journal thoughts and express emotions, he found music a natural response to many of life’s circumstances, including his ongoing recovery from addiction.

Music has been an integral part of Jer’s life, having been exposed to jazz, classical and rock growing up. Fascinated by music, he’s had many years of private piano, drum, and guitar instruction. He’s been developing studio skills for ten years, nourishing his love for recording. He interned at Studio X (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, etc.) in Seattle. Between 2002 and 2006 he was also active in the Seattle music scene with various bands.

Ben and Jer joined forces during the summer of 2010 and discovered they had a shared vision for developing heart-felt, meaningful songs that communicate hope and healing. In January, 2011, they recorded their debut, self-titled album, “Oterra,” and began booking shows to promote it. Their creative endeavors expanded in late 2011 when they began crafting new songs for their next album. They act as a songwriting team, working together to develop songs from an initial concept to a full arrangement, and are presently handling all of Oterra's music production and promotion as well.
