"I love the idea that people somewhere are making something they dig, in this case experimental electronic that fuses a punk aesthetic with operatic vocals, spoken word, performance art, and a hellacious amount of the strangest funk... I emailed Joe and said “Man, this tape has no business being as good as it is." - Guide Me Little Tape
"It’s such that, on first listen, the album seems to have little to no pullback, as if every song is coming toward you too quickly. But on further listening, you realize the minds behind Other Families have everything firmly under control, and know exactly how to maneuver the tricky landscape they occupy; somewhere between the accessible and the Void." - The Living Wiccan
"House, Techno, Spoken Word, R&B, It's all there, but it's seriously messed up and warped" - Ride The Tempo

Bio
Other Families is an experimental electronic act that fuses dance-driven tracks with noise, theatrics and spoken word poetry in an aggressive and operatic punk aesthetic. We came together in 2010 with a vision to combine our mutual interest and varied artistic mediums, and have become producers of various audio products.
We've been gigging around the GTA since 2012 with the release of our first full-length, Quit. Since then, we’ve put out a Toronto/California split distributed single, Twin Infant, (Flower Sun Rain Records), an experimental audio podcast, The Other Families Radio Show (available for free download and on limited edition cassette), and in 2013 a hand-bound and self-published book of poems and art, Slay.
We mix multiple performance genres and medias with every performance, which are more like art installation than classic band sets. We're capable of performing long, mixed media sets for gallery/party atmospheres as well as more conventional but still performance-art tuned full-band shows.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR LIVE PERFORMANCE VENUES:
- In-house PA system with monitor speakers
- 1 stereo (RCA or 1/4 inch pair) input/DI box for electronic instruments
- Between 2 - 4 vocal microphones
