Omar Thomas Ales
Having worked in the Canadian Music Scene for over two decades Omar has worked as a professional recording artist, arranger, songwriter and as a producer. Playing live and in the studio with established Canadian recording artists HAREM SCAREM, RAY LYEL & THE STORM, RIK SANTERS, CINDY VALENTINE and HONEYMOON SUITE.
Born in Toronto Omar became an extremely proficient piano player at a very young age and began composing original music as early as the age of 10. He cites the Beatles and Elton John as his main musical influences at the time.
Omar has performed and recorded all over the world in countries such as Japan, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, the United States and Saudi Arabia, and has shared large concert stages with world renowned groups WHITESNAKE, CHEAP TRICK, THE GUESS WHO and NAZARETH. In 1994 Omar recorded an album in Italy with SONY Records Spain recording artist RAFA MARTIN who also recorded a duet with the Back Street Boys.
In 1987 Warner Chappell Music President Jerry Renewych signed Omar’s first original compositions to a songwriters agreement, at that time Omar was fronting his own commercial rock band called LYON who were signed to Do Rae Me Records.
Some of Omar’s accomplishments include - Q107 Homegrown Winner 1982, Q107 Homegrown Winner 1985, FACTOR New Talent Demo Award Recipient 1987, Yamaha World Band Explosion Bronze Award Winner 1988, Y95 Future Classics Winner 1993, FACTOR Professional Song Writer Award 1997, 2003 single Here I Am released on the INDIE POOL compilation CD.
In 1997 Omar started working on a Children’s Story called THE CELLO, an original concept for Film/Television. Besides creating the story Omar also composed and produced a 10-song CD featuring Canadian recording stars ALFIE ZAPPACOSTA (Dirty Dancing Soundtrack), PETER FREDETTE (of the Kim Mitchell Band), KAREN LeBLANC (star of the stage production RENT), and MICHAEL SHOTTEN (Lead singer of VON GROOVE, and with rock super group BOSTON).
THE CELLO combines Omar’s love for children and music and showcases his incredible talent and ability to touch the hearts of young and old alike.
Currently Omar is co-writing and recording songs with many new talented artists working out of his home studio based in Mississauga Ontario.
